Tennessee makes top ten for 4-star athlete

Tennessee makes top ten for 4-star athlete.

Tennessee is in the running to land Sage Ryan, a talented athlete from Lafayette, La. Ryan released his top ten schools on his Twitter account, and the Vols joined plenty of SEC company on the list.

Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss and LSU are the other SEC schools to make the cut. Clemson, TCU, Michigan and Florida State were listed as well.

A 4-star prospect on the 247Sports Composite, the 5-foot-11, 193-pound 2021 prospect is rated the No. 3 athlete in his class and the No. 2 overall player in Louisiana. Ryan’s ability to excel in multiple positions has helped him earn a rating as the No. 39 overall prospect in the country.

Ryan has been a dominant athlete throughout his career at Lafayette Christian Academy, where he has played a multitude of positions on both sides of the ball. A speedy and versatile playmaker, he won state championships in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. While Ryan plays for a private school that may not run into an elite level of competition on a week-to-week basis, he perfectly fits the mold that Jeremy Pruitt and his staff covet in a player.

Pruitt’s staff is well-known for its willingness to switch players’ positions as they see as a fit, and an appreciation for defensive players that can handle the football. Ryan could potentially play defensive back and has experience at multiple positions in the defensive backfield, while also being comfortable with the ball in his hands as a dangerous return man in high school.

LSU may be the school to beat for Ryan. His hometown of Lafayette is just an hour away from Baton Rouge, and his LSU connections run deep. According to 247Sports, his father is former LSU running back Kevin Faulk and his uncle, Trev Faulk, is a former LSU linebacker.

Tennessee currently has seven players committed in the 2021 recruiting class, but none are rated as high as Ryan.
