Carter signed with the Vols over Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan.

The 6-foot-1, 227-pound linebacker is from Smyrna High School in Smyrna, Tennessee.

Carter was the No. 125 overall prospect and No. 11 linebacker in the class of 2023. He ranked as the No. 1 linebacker and No. 2 player in Tennessee, according to On3 industry rankings.

As a senior, Carter earned Tennessee Class 6A Mr. Football and Region 6-6A Defensive MVP honors. He finished last season with 92 tackles, six tackles for a loss, three sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception.
