Colson is an athletic 4-star outside linebacker that plays for midstate 6A powerhouse Ravenwood High School.
The 6-foot-2, 228-pound player is the No. 8 outside linebacker in the country and No. 2 player in Tennessee on the 247Sports Composite.
Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary landed Colson as his primary recruiter, beating out Tennessee assistants Tee Martin and Brian Niedermeyer.
Despite Tennessee’s success in the 2021 recruiting class, not much of it has come from in-state talent. Top-ranked 2021 Tennessee prospect and tight end Jake Briningstool – Colson’s Ravenwood teammate – has already pledged to Clemson. In fact, Tennessee’s highest-rated 2021 in-state commit is 3-star Brentwood wideout Walker Merrill, the No. 12 player in the state.
UT is still pursuing other in-state players that have not yet committed, and still have time to attempt to sway Colson before the Early Signing Period arrives in December.
