Tennessee in top 6 for in-state linebacker

Tennessee in top 6 for in-state linebacker.

Tennessee is one of six Power 5 schools still in the mix for outside linebacker Damon Owens, a 2021 prospect from Brentwood, Tennessee.

Only South Carolina and Kentucky accompany Tennessee as SEC schools still involved, while Lousiville, Penn State and Wake Forest fill out the rest.

Owens is a 6-foot-1, 203-pound linebacker at Ravenwood High School, a talent-rich school in the greater Nashville area that recently sent 5-star linebacker Reggie Grimes Jr. to Oklahoma. The Raptors finished runner-up in the Tennessee 6A playoffs, falling to East Tennessee powerhouse Maryville in the state championship. Owens will likely step into a bigger role for Ravenwood this season as an athletic, speedy outside linebacker.

Owens is a 3-star on the 247Sports Composite, rated the No. 57 outside linebacker in the country and the No. 23 player in Tennessee. Wide receivers coach Tee Martin is Tennessee’s primary recruiter for Owens, and the Vols are still in the mix to keep him in-state.
