Tennessee football: Players who wore No. 71

KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee has a proud football program rich in history and tradition, and over the years many great players have played on Rocky Top.

Vols Wire looks at which players wore each jersey number for the Volunteers.

No. 71

The number dates back to 1946 in Big Orange football history and it was first worn by Ronald Bergmeier.

Bergmeier sported the number for four seasons in Knoxville. He played as a back and a wing back for the Vols between 1946-49.

The number was not issued to any Tennessee player in 2019 and was last worn by Tanner Antonutti in 2018.
