KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee has a proud football program rich in history and tradition, and over the years many great players have played on Rocky Top.
Vols Wire looks at which players wore each jersey number for the Volunteers.
No. 54
The number goes back to 1937 in Tennessee football history and it was first worn by Bob Fulton.
Fulton, a tackle, sported the number for one season.
It was later worn by linebacker Dale Jones, who had a big game in the 1986 Sugar Bowl when Tennessee beat Miami, a team stacked with future NFL stars.
Jones, a two-time All-Southeastern Conference standout for the Big Orange in 1985 and 1986, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 10th round of the 1987 NFL Draft.
