Tennessee football: Players who wore No. 35

KNOXVILLE —The University of Tennessee has a football program rich in history and tradition, and over the years many great players have played on Rocky Top.

Vols Wire looks at which players wore each jersey number for the Volunteers.

No. 35

The number goes back to 1937 in Big Orange Country and it was first worn by quarterback Robert Sneed. He donned the number for two seasons.

More recently Daniel Bituli wore the number and was a middle linebacker for the Vols from 2016-19.

He left Knoxville with a flourish, leading Tennessee in tackles for the last three seasons and was a true bright spot in some tough times at UT.

In 2019, he missed the first two games of the campaign (losses to Georgia State and BYU) but returned to become the emotional leader of Tennessee’s defense.

The Vols would go 8-5 and come back to beat Indiana in the Gator Bowl, setting a positive tone for the UT football program moving forward.
