Tennessee extends first scholarship offer to 2021 quarterback

Tennessee extends first scholarship offer to 2021 quarterback.

Tennessee’s quarterback room for the 2020 season is nearly overflowing. With Jarrett Guarantano back for his redshirt senior season, the Vols also have J.T. Shrout, Brian Maurer, Maryland transfer Kasim Hill and freshmen Jimmy Holiday and Harrison Bailey competing for time.

While losing some of these players due to transfer seems like a very plausible scenario, quarterback is not a huge priority for the Vols in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

However, Jeremy Pruitt’s staff appear to have uncovered a talent out of Sarasota, Fla. that has no star ratings on any major recruiting sites or offers from other schools.

Tyler Beasley is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound junior at Out-of-Door Academy, a private school that serves students in Pre-K through 12th grade.

At a school with a small enrollment, Beasley certainly does not go up against the top talent in the state of Florida, but Tennessee’s staff clearly believes he has the potential to come in and make that position group better. With so much depth currently at quarterback for the Vols, the pressure to find another great talent is not as high-strung. Many expect highly-touted freshman Harrison Bailey to take the reins for the near future.
