Tennessee defensive lineman ‘probably going to miss the rest of the season’

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee (2-4, 2-4 SEC) is set to host Texas A&M (5-1, 5-1 SEC) Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

Third-year Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt kicked off game week Monday and provided an injury update for senior defensive lineman LaTrell Bumphus.

“He’s probably going to be out 4-6 weeks, so based off the season, that probably will be it for this year,” Pruitt said of Bumphus.

Pruitt mentioned that someone fell on Bumphus during pregame at Arkansas causing the injury.

“It was unfortunate with LaTrell,” Pruitt said. “During warmups, somebody fell into his leg there and he’s probably going to miss the rest of the season, so that’s unfortunate for him.”

Bumphus has played in four games this season for the Vols, totaling 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, one sack and one quarterback hurry.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive lineman from Savannah, Tennessee has appeared in 38 contests since 2017 during his career at UT.
