Tennessee baseball defeats Southern Miss to force Game 3

Tennessee baseball defeats Southern Miss to force game No. 3 in the NCAA Tournament Hattiesburg Super Regional.

Tennessee (42-20, 16-14 SEC) defeated Southern Miss (46-19, 22-8 Sun Belt), 8-4, in Game 2 of the NCAA Tournament Hattiesburg Super Regional at Pete Taylor Park in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Tennessee won despite trailing, 4-0, in the third inning to force a Game 3 on Monday. Southern Miss won the first contest of a best-of-three series. The winner between the Vols and Golden Eagles advances to the College World Series.

The Vols scored six runs in the fourth inning in Game 2.

Blake Burke hit a two-run home run for the Vols. Jared Dickey (2), Griffin Merritt (1) and Christian Scott (1) also recorded RBIs for Tennessee.

Chase Dollander (7-6) started and pitched eight innings. He allowed four runs, seven hits and one walk, while recording seven strikeouts.

Chase Burns recorded the final three outs of the contest. He recorded one strikeout.
