Campbell rates as the No. 20 tight end in his class, and No. 37 player in Georgia per the 247Sports Composite. At 6-foot-3, 234-pounds, Campbell fielded offers from Auburn, Syracuse, Florida, Michigan and others.
In his junior season at South Paulding High School, Campbell caught 54 passes for 620 yards and seven touchdowns. He fills many roles for the South Paulding offense, as both a blocking and pass-catching tight end. Coaches often find ways to put the ball in his hands, with speed that poses problems to defensive backs at the prep level. Campbell is often deployed as an edge rusher as well, using his athleticism to get to the backfield.
Tight ends coach Joe Osovet is Campbell’s primary recruiter for Tennessee, and that gives the Vols its 22nd commitment of the 2021 class, which currently sits at No. 2 in the country.
