Teddy Bridgewater won’t get to play a single preseason game to get to know this Panthers offense. Nevertheless, Bridgewater told reporters during a Zoom call today that he feels like this is his team.
For a group as young as this Carolina team, Bridgewater is very-much a seasoned veteran. Coaching up the rookies and other inexperienced players on the roster will be a huge project for every leader like Bridgewater, who brings familiarity with Joe Brady’s offense and 34 starts in the NFL. When Bridgewater was asked about his advice for the 2020 class, he said “just keep your head down and work.”
While there are going to be a ton of rookies on the final 53-man roster, most of them will be playing on the other side of the ball.
What winning the Panthers do this season will likely be a result of their offense, which doesn’t have a whole lot of room to spare for players who haven’t been around the league long. Now that fomer Minnesota running back Rodney Smith has been cut, the rookies on offense with the best chance to make the roster are the 6-foot-3 wide receiver Omar Bayless and the athletic tight end Cam Sutton.
