Former Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is finally getting another chance to be a team’s starting quarterback after suffering a career-altering knee injury in 2016.
The Panthers signed Bridgewater to a three-year, $63 million contract this offseason to be their QB1.
Bridgewater doesn’t have the strongest arm and if all things go well, he’s a slightly above-average quarterback in the league.
But it’s all the other things Bridgewater does behind that scenes that really has the Panthers excited.
“Everybody that’s met Teddy Bridgewater, he makes everybody better,” Panthers offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who spent time with Bridgewater in New Orleans, said via Panthers.com. “(W)e had a day where we had Teddy running the meetings. I think that that’s critical, having a guy that understands a good amount of the system and what we’re doing, but also has an idea of football and being able to explain it and teach it to others.”
These are the types of things that don’t show up in the box score, but they matter. It’s a trait that made Bridgewater a fan and locker room favorite in Minnesota.
This is a quarterback who has been through so much in his young career. After battling back from the absolute bottom, Bridgewater deserves all the success coming his way. He’s put the work in and has always had the right attitude. If I were to bet, that will translate to success on the field.
