After signing tight end Eric Ebron, the writing was on the wall for Nick Vannett. The Pittsburgh Steelers felt they needed to go a different direction on offense and this left Vannett to pursue another team as a free agent. On Saturday it was reported Vannett is signing a two-year contract with the Denver Broncos.
The Steelers traded a fifth-round pick for Vannett last season to help bolster the offense. The experiment was a miserable failure. Vannett caught 13 passes in 13 games with the Steelers and brought nothing special in the way of blocking.
Pittsburgh has lost multiple players this offseason to free agency. The Steelers finished 8-8 last season through a multitude of injuries but the offense really suffered.
