October is the prime season for both college football and horror movies, and No. 13 TCU has managed to combine both in its alternate uniforms ahead of this weekend’s huge showdown with No. 8 Oklahoma State.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen TCU incorporate some red into its typical purple-and-white scheme, and that’s thanks to a really bizarre and awesome fact about its mascot. The Texas horned frog (which is actually a lizard, by the way) can shoot streams of blood out of its eyes as a defensive mechanism when threatened, giving TCU the most intimidating reason imaginable for including a little bloody detail on its uniforms from time to time.
This year’s edition may be the bloodiest version yet, and the Horned Frogs’ announcement video leans into the slasher movie vibes of their new look.
