The Atlanta Falcons will not be making a quarterback change this week as they face the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium in Week 10. Head coach Arthur Smith announced Monday that Taylor Heinicke would make his second straight start.
Heinicke was the starter for the Falcons’ 31-28 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
He was 21-of-38 passing for 268 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the loss. He replaced Desmond Ridder in the second half of the Falcons’ 28-23 loss to the Tennessee Titans when Ridder was evaluated with a concussion.
Ridder had started the first eight games of the season.
Smith said they would reassess when they get to the bye week, which is after they play the Cardinals.
Heinicke has never faced the Cardinals previously in his career.
Heinicke’s second start will come against the Cardinals when Kyler Murray presumably makes his return to the field for the first time since he tore his ACL last December.
