The North Carolina Tar Heels are hoping to eventually climb their way into the Associated Press Top 25 poll this season. But they will have to wait at least a few more weeks.
After a 3-0 start and a win against Georgia State on Saturday, the Tar Heels are receiving votes in the AP Poll but are not in the top 25. Instead, they find themselves 30th with 71 votes.
The Tar Heels trail Marshall (85 votes), Cincinnati (80 votes), Appalachian State (80 votes), and Kansas State (77 votes) in the others receiving votes category.
Georgia took over the top spot as Alabama fell down to No. 2 after beating Texas on Saturday. Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson round out the Top 5.
The ACC has five teams ranked total with No. 13 Miami, No. 16 NC State, No. 19 Wake Forest, and No. 23 Pittsburgh all in the poll.
UNC has a bye week this week before hosting Notre Dame in Week 4.
