The North Carolina Tar Heels are getting an early surprise ahead of National Signing Day on Wednesday. And it’s a good surprise
On Tuesday, JUCO defensive back Tyrane Stewart officially committed to North Carolina out of East Mississippi Community College. Stewart picked North Carolina over rival NC State after taking a visit to Chapel Hill after receiving an offer.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder also visited NC State as well before making his final decision on where to play his college ball.
Stewart had a handful of offers including from Arkansas and Illinois in addition to North Carolina and NC State per Inside Carolina. He now joins UNC’s class which has a total of 28 commitments for the class.

Mack Brown and his program are expected to sign a big class this week which is ranked No. 23 nationally per the 247Sports recruiting rankings for the 2024 class. It’s an important class for Brown and his staff moving forward especially with how the past two seasons have ended.
