Tar Heels flip in-state running back for 2025 recruiting class

The UNC football program landed a in-state running back from the 2025 class on Monday.

With North Carolina’s 2024 season coming to a disappointing end, a new era of Tar Heels’ football is set to begin in 2025. And Bill Belichick is wasting no time fixing this roster.

After landing some players in the transfer portal, Belichick and his staff have a new addition to the roster and it’s an in-state prospect for the 2025 class.

On Monday, the Tar Heels flipped running back Jariel Cobb from Air Force, landing the talented back out of Reidsville, North Carolina. Cobb made the decision to commit to UNC this week after visiting the program last week.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound running back is now the 11th player to commit to UNC in the 2025 recruiting class with nine of those players having signed already. Just Cobb and defensive lineman Terry Nwabuisi-Ezeala are unsigned but will sign during signing day.

Nwabuisi-Ezeala committed to UNC last week as well.

With Cobb committed, UNC now has two running backs committed in this cycle as he joins Demon June as the running back commits. UNC is losing Omarion Hampton and the future of the position is up for grabs.
