The 2023-24 college basketball season is winding down and with just a few weeks left in the regular season, every game becomes that much more important.
For North Carolina, they are currently slotted in as a No. 2 seed in the first reveal by the selection committee and are hoping to climb back into the No. 1-seed contention. To do that, they need to take care of business in the regular season and the ACC Tournament.
But things have been a little rough lately and another 1-1 week in ACC play has left some doubts.
With North Carolina falling in the Coaches and AP top 25 polls, they also fell in CBS Sports’ Top 25 and 1. Garry Parrish has made an update after this weekend’s games and has North Carolina at No. 9.
Armando Bacot finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds in Saturday’s 96-81 win over Virginia Tech. The Tar Heels’ next game is Saturday at Virginia.
That’s the bad news.
The good news is that UNC is ahead of Duke in the rankings and still managed to land in the top 10. They do get this week off before playing at Virginia on Saturday, a game in which they could use as a road win for their resume.
If UNC can take care of business, they should see their ranking improve.
