The North Carolina women’s basketball program dropped their second game of the season, losing 65-64 to FGCU.
On the heels of their heartbreaking 63-56 defeat to Kansas State, UNC experienced their second straight loss this time on the receiving end of the upset. Much like their loss against the Wildcats, UNC’s slow start hindered their late-game efforts.
FGCU came out swinging, dominating the Tar Heels in the 1st quarter 23-18. UNC did bounce back in the second quarter to outscore FGCU 15-8, but with the third going back to the Eagles, UNC couldn’t stop the upset from happening in the fourth despite having a one-point lead with 12 seconds left to play.
The tough outing should serve as a learning opportunity for the Tar Heels as they prepare for their SEC/ACC matchup against South Carolina.
