Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels’ football program isn’t done adding to its roster just yet.
With spring football practices over and the team off until late summer, North Carolina made an addition through the transfer portal. Former Clemson kicker Liam Boyd announced that he would continue his college career with the Tar Heels.
Boyd left the Clemson program last month despite a solid spring with the Tigers including making a 51-yard field goal attempt in the team’s spring game. But with Boyd seeking other opportunities, he felt as if UNC would give him the best chance to continue his football career.

The Asheville, North Carolina native went to IMG Academy in 2021 where he was a kicker for the team after playing soccer. He joined the Tigers as a walk-on in the summer of 2022 and redshirted last season.
Boyd joins a kicking competition at UNC that includes Noah Burnette and Cincinnati transfer Ryan Coe.
