The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-4) punched their ticket into the NFL playoffs as the 2-seed in the NFC conference. They join 13 other NFL teams focused on Super Bowl LVI, which takes place Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
The defending Super Bowl champions clinched the NFC South with a 32-6 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 16 but couldn’t run down the Green Bay Packers for the 1-seed in the NFC postseason.
Tom Brady had yet another remarkable season for any quarterback, let alone a 44-year-old. Brady has the second-best odds to win the NFL MVP on most sportsbooks (behind Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers) and led the NFL in both passing TDs (43) and passing yards (5,316).
Tampa Bay’s defense ain’t too shabby either. The Bucs had the fifth-best expected points added per play (EPA/play) on defense and allowed the third-fewest rushing yards.
However, Tampa’s offense has taken some tough losses entering the playoffs such as injuries to RB Leonard Fournette and WR Chris Godwin and WR Antonio Brown‘s bizarre in-game resignation in Week 17. Fournette was designated to return from IR and begin practicing.
