One would love to figure out exactly how well Notre Dame matches up with Texas A&M in its season opener. However, the fact is we really don’t know the answer to that question. While both teams have many returning players from a season ago, there are some new players mixed in as well, either as incoming freshman or transfers. Still other players will receive more playing time than they did a season ago.
When it comes to the Irish’s offense and the Aggies’ defense, we get kind of a mixed bag. In 2023, the Aggies had better overall games on both the rushing and passing sides, but the Irish got more out of individual plays. It led to the Irish ranking higher in scoring offense than the Aggies in scoring defense.
