Notre Dame might have had a better record than Alabama this season, but that means nothing come NCAA Tournament time. Even if you take away, you’ll notice that the Irish trail the Crimson Tide in almost every major individual category. Is that because the Tide actually are the better team, or is that the result of the SEC being a much better conference over the past year than the ACC? Either way, the Irish have their work cut out for them with that talent from Tuscaloosa.
Maybe the 3-point shooting could swing this contest. Whether that comes down more to accuracy or actual number of 3-pointers made is anyone’s guess. This game could work in the Irish’s favor if it’s the former, but they’ll have to try and win a shooting contest if it’s the latter.
In the end, individual talent only gets you so far during March Madness. All it takes is one off game from somebody, and chances are you’re headed home. Hopefully for the Irish’s sake, that won’t happen to anyone on their team.
