The Florida Gators are finishing up preparations to host the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, and there’s at least one major change on the depth chart heading into the Week 10 matchup.
Florida lost top inside linebacker Shemar James for the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered last week, and defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong had to do some shuffling as a result. The easy fix, at least on the depth chart, is using Mannie Nunnery behind Scooby Williams as the team’s top two linebackers.
Nunnery has manned the starting SAM linebacker spot for some time. He’s listed as the starter there still, and Jaden Robinson and Derek Wingo are both listed as alternates to Nunnery at linebacker.
In addition to James, wide receivers Thai Chiaokhiao-Bowman and Caleb Douglas remain out, as well as tight end Jonathan Odom. Defensive end Tyreak Sapp and defensive lineman Cam Jackson are both questionable but remain listed as starters.
Florida has battled injuries all year, but losing the team’s leading tackler might be the most difficult loss to navigate considering the depth behind James.
