Four-star power forward picks up offer from UNC

Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program have their eyes on four-star forward Zayden High in the 2023 class.

Hubert Davis and the UNC Basketball program are targeting forwards in their 2023 recruiting class. Just a day after the team offered TJ Power, they are now pursuing four-star power forward [autotag]Zayden High[/autotag].

The 6-foot-9, 225-pound prospect out of Arizona took to Twitter to announce that he has received an offer from Davis and the Tar Heels on Tuesday night.

High is a player that UNC has watched in the past and now they appear very serious with the interest. The offer from UNC is the 19th in his recruitment with programs like Arizona State, Arkansas, Houston, Michigan, Texas Tech and Texas A&M among others showing interest.

With the Tar Heels in the mix, it’s clear they want a power forward to come in for their 2023 class despite already having G.G. Jackson committed. But the latest rumors swirling are that Jackson will decommit eventually, leaving UNC with another hole there.

That’s also the very likely reason Davis and his staff are now pursuing more forwards for the class.

High is ranked No. 37 overall, the No. 9 power forward and No. 2 player in the state of Arizona per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.

2024 Prospect calls UNC interest in him ‘a dream’

A four-star prospect in the 2024 class called interest from UNC basketball ‘a dream’.

Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball staff were in Orlando this weekend to watch the EYBL event and some top recruiting targets. As they watched players like G.G. Jackson, Simeon Wilcher and Naas Cunningham, another recruit peaked their interest as well.

Four-star power forward [autotag]Zayden High [/autotag]was on UNC’s radar this weekend as the staff watched him and is now showing some interest in the Texas native early in his recruitment. During the event, High caught up with Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers to talk about the interest he’s receiving. And he had an interesting comment about the Tar Heels:

And who are the newest schools, since this weekend?

“Texas, North Carolina, Creighton, Alabama, Wake Forest, Texas Tech, TCU, Kansas State, and there are a couple of other schools I’m supposed to talk to today [Monday].”

You now said UNC has entered your recruitment, discuss that and what that means to you?

”Crazy (pauses), been a dream since I was a little kid to even have an interest from the same school Michael Jordan went to.”

The 6-foot-9, 225-pound prospect has a total of 15 offers so far in his recruitment with the Tar Heels yet to officially offer. But the latest involvement should lead to an offer from Davis and the staff down the line.

High is certainly someone to keep an eye on for the Tar Heels moving forward.
