Xbox 360 games will no longer be available from Games with Gold

Microsoft has announced that it will no longer be giving away Xbox 360 games as part of its Xbox Live service Games with Gold from October.

Microsoft has announced that it will no longer be giving away Xbox 360 games as part of its Xbox Live service Games with Gold from October.

Despite adding more Xbox 360 titles to the Xbox Game Pass service, Microsoft will discontinue giving away these older games as part of its Games with Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The company has previously discussed the difficulty of porting its legacy games to its modern consoles. This is due to data collection and preservation as well as licensing issues.

However, it has still added around 100 games from the 360’s library to Xbox Game Pass. These are reportedly all the games the company was able to preserve and port. Any games which have been previously downloaded as part of Games with Gold will not be affected by the changes after October.

Microsoft still intends to share some of its older games after this date. Alongside games made for the Xbox Series X/S, games for Xbox One will still be included in the Xbox Live Gold subscription.

Below is the email sent to users of the Xbox Live service. (Thanks to The Verge.)

“From 1 October 2022, the monthly games provided to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold members via Games with Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 titles.”

“We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog; however, Games with Gold will continue to include exciting Xbox One titles and exclusive savings each month.”

“This will not impact any Xbox 360 games that you downloaded before October 2022. Any Xbox 360 titles that you redeem via Games with Gold before that time are yours to keep on your Xbox account, regardless of whether you continue your subscription.”

In other Xbox news, the list of games being added to Xbox Game Pass in July has been announced with a number of Yakuza games, including fan-favorite Yakuza 0, coming to the subscription service.

Xbox Games with Gold May 2022 lineup revealed

Viva Piñata Party Animals, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, and more are on offer.

Free video games make the world slightly more bearable, and Xbox Live Gold subscribers are getting a healthy reminder of that this May.

Xbox Live Games with Gold May 2022

Four games are up for grabs in May for anyone with an active Xbox Line Gold membership, and we’ll list which titles are on offer along with the dates each will be available below.

May 1 to May 31

  • Yoku’s Island Express

May 16 to June 15

  • The Inner World – The Last Wind Monk

May 1 to 15

  • Hydro Thunder Hurricane

May 16 to 31

  • Viva Piñata Party Animals

These titles are available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members as well. Recent offerings on that service are listed here.

Games with Gold offerings always feel a bit boring compared to the embarrassment of riches that is Game Pass. I mean, when was the last time anyone thought about Viva Piñata? At least a decade.

Thankfully there are also dozens of other services constantly giving games away. Amazon Prime has cool stuff in May, and PlayStation’s upcoming revamp of PS Plus is looking decent too. Then there’s the Epic Games Store, which gives away freebies every week.

Xbox Live Games with Gold for April 2022 include MX vs ATV Alive

Another Sight, Hue, and Outpost Kaloki X are also up for grabs.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers can pick up several free games in April, and the offerings are somewhat curious.

Xbox Live Games with Gold for April 2022

Below is the complete list of all free games available for Xbox Live subscribers in April. As always, the release list information comes straight from Microsoft

April 1 to April 30

  • Another Sight

April 1 to April 15

  • Outpost Kaloki X

April 16 to April 30

  • MX vs ATV Alive

April 16 to May 15

  • Hue

As always, these titles are also available for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. Recent offerings on that service are listed here.

The world of game subscription services got slightly more interesting on Tuesday, as Sony revealed the update to PS Plus — PlayStation’s answer to Xbox Game Pass, or at least somewhat of a response. Hundreds of huge PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS4 titles will be on the new PS Plus as well. Please, put the original Silent Hill games on there before I pass away. I am begging.

April’s PS Plus freebies also leaked very recently.

Xbox Live Games with Gold for March include SpongeBob’s Truth or Square

The Flame in the Flood, Street Power Soccer, and Sacred 2 Fallen Angel are also up for grabs.

Anyone with an Xbox Live subscription can pick up four games for free this March, and the lineup is rather interesting.

Xbox Live Games with Gold for March 2022

Below you’ll find the complete list of what titles Xbox Live subscribers can pick up for free next month. Microsoft thankfully let everybody know the release schedule ahead of time on the Xbox News Wire.

March 1 to March 15

  • Sacred 2 Fallen Angel

March 1 to March 31

  • The Flame in the Flood

March 16 to March 31

  • SpongeBob’s Truth or Square

March 16 to April 15

  • Street Power Soccer

The dates for these are a bit odd, but that’s just how these things roll out sometimes. Remember, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members are also eligible for these games.

Xbox Live Games with Gold is never quite up to snuff with Xbox Game Pass offerings. Recent free titles on the service include Total War: Warhammer III, Madden NFL 22, and Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, among many others, really highlight the gap between freebies on Xbox Live Games for Gold and Xbox Game Pass.

Both services offer fairly different services at the end of the day, so it is what it is.

Four golden games next month.

The Xbox Live Games with Gold lineup for Feb. 2022 is finally up, and subscribers will be happy to hear Microsoft is giving away four games next month.

Below you’ll find the new Games with Gold lineup for Feb. 2022, including the available dates. The details all came straight from Xbox’s  official blog.

Feb. 1 to Feb. 28

  • Broken Sword 5: The Serpent’s Curse

Feb. 1 to Feb 15

  • Hydrophobia

Feb. 16 to March 15

  • Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield

Feb. 16 to Feb. 28

  • Band of Bugs

Not exactly a stellar list, like due to Microsoft putting all its effort into Xbox Game Pass, which recently surpassed  more than 25 million subscribers

The company recently bought  Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion, which means several more legendary franchises are now under Xbox’s umbrella. Everyone is still debating whether or not Call of Duty  will bec6ome an Xbox Exclusive, though for now, PlayStation will get three  more entries in the series. However, it remains to be seen if stuff like Overwatch 2Diablo 4, and Blizzard’s new survival game will head to Sony’s console.

It’s been a busy week for free games. Over on Epic’s storefront, the company is giving away  a couple of big titles. Similarly,  PS Plus subscribers  will get EA Sports UFC 4  and Planet Coaster: Console Edition  next month.

Xbox Live Games with Gold titles for January 2022 have been leaked

A reputable leaker has revealed the four games coming to Xbox Live Games with Gold in January 2022.

The Xbox Live Games with Gold lineup for Jan. 2022 has been leaked online, revealing four games that are purportedly coming to the service next month.

The information comes from Dealabs user billbil-kun, who just yesterday also leaked the PS Plus games for Jan. 2022. While PS4 and PS5 users subscribed to PlayStation’s service will gain access to major critically acclaimed titles like Persona 5 StrikersDeep Rock Galactic, and Dirt 5, the Games with Gold lineup is a little lighter on spectacle.

[mm-video type=video id=01fneweg9c4wk5v2c2c9 playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fneweg9c4wk5v2c2c9/01fneweg9c4wk5v2c2c9-a0465eb771466761de4c34fc9ceabc05.jpg]

According to billbil-kun, these are the games Xbox Games with Gold subscribers will be able to claim in Jan. 2022.

Jan. 1 to Jan. 15

  • Radiant Silvergun

Jan. 1 to Jan. 31

  • NeuroVoider

Jan. 16 to Jan. 31

  • Space Invaders Infinity Gene

Jan. 16 to Feb. 16

  • Aground

Obviously these games aren’t quite as big as Persona, although Games with Gold has been relatively lackluster in recent months. This is likely due to increased investment in Game Pass, which this month alone saw the addition of massive titles like Halo InfiniteFirewatch, and Mortal Kombat 11.

December 2021’s Xbox Games with Gold appear to have leaked early

December’s Xbox Games with Gold offerings have been outed by Dealabs.

It looks like next month’s free Xbox games have leaked ahead of the official announcement. December’s Xbox Games with Gold offerings have been outed by Dealabs, who has previous form with PlayStation Plus leaks (thanks, VGC).

According to the leak, here are December 2021’s Xbox Games with Gold

  • The Escapists 2 (Dec. 1-31)
  • Tropico 5 Penultimate Edition (Dec. 16-Jan. 15)
  • Orcs Must Die! (Dec. 1-15)
  • Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (Dec. 16-31)

If you haven’t played them already, The Escapists 2 and Tropico 5 are both excellent games – the former sees you breaking out of prisons while the latter sees you in charge of a banana republic.

November’s Games With Gold included Moving Out, Kingdom Two Crowns, Rocket Knight and Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes. Make sure to redeem them before they’re swapped for the new games.

If none of those take your fancy, a bunch of games are currently heavily discounted on the Xbox store thanks to a Black Friday promotion – the sale runs to Dec. 2.
