Gators News: Women’s golf slips to seventh, volleyball kicks off

Florida Gators football has another bye but the other athletic action is picking up with women’s golf, volleyball and both tennis teams.

We have reached the midpoint of another week and despite another off-day for the Florida Gators football team this weekend, there are a few other UF sports currently in action as the week winds down.

The women’s golf team continued play at The Ally at Old Waverly tournament on Tuesday, dropping from first to seventh in the three-day, SEC-only competition. Sophomore Annabell Fuller paced the Gators after posting her second-straight scorecard under par. The tournament culminates today starting at 10 a.m. EDT.

Also in action today is the Gators volleyball team, who kick off back-to-back road matches at the Auburn Tigers today and continues tomorrow. The squad is only playing in eight games this year against four different SEC schools — all in the same two-day format — due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Friday, both the men’s and women’s tennis teams take the court away from Gainesville, with the former participating in the Gamecock Fall SEC Shootout hosted by South Carolina, while the latter cross the border north to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. This is the second tournament of the year for the men after a strong showing at the Tiger Fall Invitational, while the women finished on a high note in their opening tournament at the SEC Challenge in Tuscaloosa — both earlier this month.
