Usually, there is a solid idea of where a player could be headed before their final decision. The mystery of it all has largely disappeared in the age of internet rumors. With the commitment of Al Ashford III, however, you can throw everything that we usually know about recruiting out the window.

The Badgers landed a commitment from the three-star 2021 DB out of Colorado on Friday night in shocking fashion. Check out the above graphic and you will see numerous schools from around the country. What you will not see is the Badgers, who were not even publicly thought to be in the hunt for the Colorado native.
Every recent 247Sports “crystal ball” had the in-state Colorado Buffaloes landing the top DB in the state. Needless to say that nobody saw this decision coming, except perhaps Wisconsin personnel.

Ashford joins Florida native Ricardo Hallman as the second CB in the 2021 class for the Badgers, a class that now includes 18 hard commits.
