Former Wisconsin basketball starter becomes associate head coach at Kansas

Former Wisconsin women’s basketball starter Morgan Paige was elevated to associate head coach of the Kansas women’s basketball program on Monday, per a release.

Paige kick-started her tenure in Lawrence, Kansas as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for coach Brandon Schneider’s coaching staff over the past three seasons.

The Jayhawks have reached the postseason in every year of Paige’s tenure on the sidelines, including two NCAA Tournament appearances and a 2023 WNIT Championship. Kansas has also notched 20 wins in each of their past three campaigns.

As a Badger, the Marion, Iowa native started in 97 of her 118 games total appearances during her four seasons in Madison from 2010-14. Paige became the 23rd UW player to reach the 1,000-point mark following her senior year.

Paige also stands at third on UW’s career record list for free throw percentage (.821), fifth in 3-point attempts (528), eighth in free throws made (326) and 10th in 3-pointers made (144), per UWBadgers.com.

Her new role as associate could prove beneficial for future head coaching opportunities both at Kansas and elsewhere. Her ties to Wisconsin may also play a factor in sideline decisions down the line.

Wisconsin women’s basketball forward Serah Williams was named to the 2024 USA 3×3 Nations League roster today, per a release from USA Basketball.

Serving as a qualification route to the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup 2024 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, the 2024 USA 3×3 Women’s Nations League Team event will take place in Mexico City from July 22-28.

Both the USA men’s and women’s 3×3 Nations League Teams will attend training camp in Phoenix July 18-20 before the trek to Mexico.

Williams will compete alongside Christina Dalce (University of Maryland), Morgan Maly (Creighton University), Cotie McMahon (Ohio State University), Lucy Olsen (University of Iowa) and Mikaylah Williams (LSU). This event will mark the first time Williams has donned the red, white and blue on the hardwood.

At UW, the Brooklyn native averaged a team-high 17.4 points per game during her 2023-24 campaign. She also pocketed 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and 2024 Big Ten First Team honors after appearing in 30 contests for head coach Marisa Moseley a season ago.

Williams will look to build upon her recent success as Wisconsin’s go-to scoring option ahead of this season. She will play alongside four new Badgers this fall: international guard Alba Martin Mesa, walk-on Reese Jaramillo, former Northern Kentucky center Carter McCray and former Duquesne guard Tess Myers.

The Wisconsin women’s basketball program announced the addition of walk-on Reese Jaramillo to its 2024-25 roster via social media on Wednesday.

Jaramillo becomes the latest addition to UW’s 2024-25 platoon after the additions of former Northern Kentucky center Carter McCray and Duquesne guard Tess Myers via the transfer portal.

A native of Wisconsin, Jaramillo captured a conference, regional, and sectional championship at the Prairie School in Wind Point, Wisconsin. The newcomer also earned Metro Classic All-Conference First-Team and Racine All-County honors following her senior year.

The future Badger finished her high school career ranked third on the school’s all-time scoring list with 1,292 points.

Like Greg Gard’s program, Marisa Moseley’s group has experienced a sizable shift in both coaching and player personnel following the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign. Five former Badgers — Ana Guillen, Sania Copeland, Tessa Towers, Imbie Jones and Sacia Vanderpool — elected to transfer elsewhere this spring.

Over the past month, UW also hired former D-I Cleveland State assistant Frozena Jerro to an assistant role and promoted former D-I Boston University head coach Margaret McKeon to associate head coach.

Jaramillo will look to provide an immediate scoring impact for Wisconsin during her freshman season.

Wisconsin women’s basketball announced the promotion of former D-I Boston University head coach Margaret McKeon to associate head coach on Thursday.

McKeon kick-started her tenure in Madison as a member of Marisa Moseley’s coaching staff during the 2023-24 season. McKeon was an integral part of the staff responsible for overseeing UW’s first postseason run in over a decade.

The Brooklyn, New York native served as head coach at Boston University and coached Moseley during her time as a Terrier. McKeon also experienced success as head coach at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) from 2007-12.

“Margaret has brought an immense wealth of knowledge and value to our program,” Moseley said in a statement to UWBadgers.com. “Her presence and experience has undoubtedly elevated our program both on and off the court.”

McKeon contributed at George Washington, Houston and Arizona State. During her first coaching experience with the Sun Devils, she helped ASU reach the NCAA Tournament at the conclusion of the 1991-92 season.

Her hiring arrives following the addition of former D-I Cleveland State assistant Frozena Jerro as Wisconsin’s latest assistant coach.

Wisconsin women’s basketball announced the hire of former D-I Cleveland State assistant Frozena Jerro as an assistant coach Tuesday.

Jerro joins head coach Marisa Moseley’s staff with nearly three decades of experience as an assistant, associate and head coach at the collegiate level. She joins assistants Margaret McKeon and Jaime Gluesing this fall, completely UW’s coaching staff ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

I am thrilled to announce the hiring of Frozena Jerro as our new assistant coach,” Moseley said in a statement to UWBadgers.com. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and is a proven developer of both players and women. I am confident she will help take us to the next level.”

The former Arizona State Sun Devil spent the past six seasons with the Vikings. She and head coach Chris Kielsmeier helped Cleveland State capture the 2024 Horizon League regular season champion title and the program’s third NCAA Tournament appearance ever in 2022-23.

Before Cleveland State, Jerro coached for the University of Illinois Chicago, New Jersey Institute of Technology, University of Nevada Las Vegas and University of Houston as an assistant.

She also served as California State University – Northridge’s head coach for four seasons and earned Big Sky Coach of the Year honors in 1999 after captaining the Matadors to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

As a player at Arizona State, Jerro was a two-time letter winner, team captain, Pac-10 All-Star and NCAA Tournament participant.
