Browns announce cold weather allowances for fans attending Week 16 Saints game

Browns announce cold weather allowances for fans attending Week 16 Saints game, allowing guests to bring their own blankets and thermos:

Hey, that’s generous of them: the Cleveland Browns announced that fans attending Week 16’s game with the New Orleans Saints may bring some of their own accommodations in light of the severe winter weather impacting the area. With temperatures plunging near zero overnight and kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET/noon CT on Saturday, the Browns are allowing fans to bring their own blankets, thermos, and portable chargers for heated apparel.

Of course there are some stipulations. Thermoses are limited to a volume of 20 ounces, size restrictions are in effect for batteries (non dry cells only, please), and battery packs must be disconnected during security checks at the gates. You can get more into the specifics from the team’s release here.

And props to you if you’re braving the winter storm and making the trip. There have been nationwide travel complications in recent days and many members of the Saints media corps have been unable to travel to Cleveland themselves due to flight cancellations. With strong wind gusts and several inches of snow in the forecast, this is shaping up for quite a unique spectacle for any Saints fans visiting Ohio. Travel safely, and be mindful of any local weather advisories.

Wind could have a big impact in multiple ways for Browns Vs Cardinals

Browns Vs Cardinals may be a high scoring affair but wind gusts could impact multiple areas on the field today:

The Cleveland Browns look to get back to their winning ways as they return home against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6. Former Oklahoma Sooner teammates, and back to back Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks, Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray get another chance to play each other in the NFL.

The two matched up in 2019 with the Cardinals getting a victory late in the season in Arizona. In that game, Mayfield threw for 247 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while Murray, a rookie in 2019, threw 219 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Coming to Cleveland without their head coach and top edge defender, Arizona is looking to keep their undefeated season going.

The two quarterbacks may have more than the opposing defenses. The weather in Cleveland is supposed to be sunny and dry but with a chance for strong winds:

As noted in the tweet, the wind won’t be as bad as Browns games last year where throwing the ball was very limited. That doesn’t mean the wind won’t impact the game.

Extreme wind in Cleveland hilariously took control of the Raiders’ FG attempt

Just a bit windy.

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden clearly has a lot of confidence in kicker Daniel Carlson. After all, there’s no other way to explain Gruden sending Carlson out to kick through remnants of a literal hurricane.

Weather forecasts for Cleveland called for plenty of rain and 40-plus mph winds when the Browns took on the Raiders at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday. These are the exact kinds of conditions that can wreak havoc on a kicking game.

So, you’ll never guess what happened …

The Raiders ignored the objectively terrible conditions and went for it right off the bat. After the opening drive stalled at the Cleveland 23-yard line, Carlson went out for a 41-yard field goal attempt.

And, oh man, that kick didn’t stand a chance.

Carlson’s kick looked to be heading down the middle, but the wind took control of the football and pushed it off the upright. Just wow.

Who could have guessed that extreme winds would have made kicking field goal difficult except for, well, everybody?

Both teams may want to reconsider attempting field goals in this one.
