Will Compton reminds Mike Vrabel, Titans that he’s ready if they call

Will Compton is ready if the Titans come calling.

One former Tennessee Titans player who remains available on the open market ahead of the 2021 campaign is linebacker Will Compton — and he wants head coach Mike Vrabel to know he’s ready if the team comes calling.

Compton recently got married and is currently on his honeymoon, but that hasn’t stopped him from hitting the gym and staying in shape just in case Tennessee — or another team — decides to bring him in for training camp.

The 31-year-old Nebraska product has spent two of the last three seasons in Nashville, contributing on both defense and special teams. Most importantly, Compton is “for the boys.”

The Titans already have a fairly crowded situation at inside linebacker, as Jayon Brown, Rashaan Evans, David Long and Monty Rice all figure to make the roster out of training camp.

However, Tennessee did bring five inside linebackers into the 2020 season, with Compton being one of them, so there could be one more spot up for grabs at the position.

Compton, who hosts the wildly successful “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast with Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan, has become a fan-favorite during his time in Nashville. Titans fans certainly wouldn’t mind seeing the team give him a shot to make the roster.

Titans’ Will Compton the latest to lobby for J.J. Watt

Matt Overton and Taylor Lewan have also done their part to recruit J.J. Watt.

Some Tennessee Titans players have tried to recruit free agent defensive end J.J. Watt to Nashville, and linebacker Will Compton is the latest to lobby for the team signing him.

First, it was long snapper Matt Overton, who noted how nice the city of Nashville is while tagging Watt in a tweet shortly after he was released.

Weeks later, left tackle Taylor Lewan channeled “Happy Gilmore” in his pitch to the veteran pass rusher in a post on Instagram.

Now, Compton is doing his part, as he tweeted out a Photoshopped picture of Watt donning a Titans hoodie and with angel wings behind him.

During his last press conference, Titans general manager Jon Robinson confirmed that the team has reached out to Watt’s camp, so there is definitely at least some interest on Tennessee’s part.

More recently, longtime NFL reporter John Clayton said the Titans were one of three favorites to land Watt, while also naming the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills.

Titans’ Will Compton delivers on promise after Bills beat Ravens

Before the Ravens-Bills game, Compton made a prediction and a promise.

After the Baltimore Ravens stomped and celebrated on the Tennessee Titans’ logo following the wild-card game in Nashville on January 10, linebacker Will Compton made a prediction and a promise.

His prediction was that the Ravens would not win the Super Bowl, and his promise was that when Baltimore gets eliminated, he would drop “Jordan crying faces” on the Ravens players who celebrated on the Titans’ logo.

“Ya know what? Listen, the Ravens are not winning the Super Bowl,” Compton said. “So, I’ll get to put Jordan crying faces on them chirping us on the logo on all of the players that did that and drop it when they lose.”

Well, Compton delivered on that promise after the Ravens lost to the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round on Saturday night.

Does this erase the Titans’ loss to the Ravens? No, but it’s funny nonetheless and only adds to the enjoyment of seeing Baltimore’s season end early after knocking Tennessee out of the playoffs the week prior.

Report: Ravens’ Marcus Peters fined for logo celebration vs. Titans

Peters was the only Ravens player to get fined for the celebration.

The perceived payback the Baltimore Ravens were notching when they celebrated and stomped on the Tennessee Titans’ logo following an interception by cornerback Marcus Peters has come with a price.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Peters has been fined $15,000 after celebrating on the logo and for his “physical actions directed at the Tennessee bench.”

More likely than not, celebrating on the logo itself wasn’t where Peters ran into a problem considering none of his other teammates who took part were fined, but rather it was a result of his “physical actions.”

Based on this angle, it’s hard to see where Peters went wrong as compared to his teammates:

This entire situation in and of itself was ridiculous to begin with.

The Ravens thought the Titans were disrespecting them in Week 11 when the team congregated on Baltimore’s logo prior to kickoff, which led to a pregame spat.

In fact, Lamar Jackson and Co. were so offended by the past action that they ran off the field without shaking hands after the clock ran out on the Ravens’ Wild Card victory over the Titans.

In reality, meeting on the logo at midfield is a pregame ritual the Titans have done for years now, and it wasn’t specifically designed to anger opponents, as linebacker Will Compton and left tackle Taylor Lewan recently reiterated.

Regardless, it was a means of motivation for the Ravens, and they ended up getting the last laugh.

Titans’ Will Compton, Taylor Lewan talk Ravens’ logo celebration

Compton also made a prediction for the Ravens’ current playoff run.

When the Baltimore Ravens notched what was essentially a game-winning interception in the fourth quarter of the wild-card game against the Tennessee Titans, they promptly celebrated on the Titans’ logo at midfield.

This was supposed to be payback for the Titans meeting on the Ravens’ logo in Week 11, which Ravens players and head coach John Harbaugh thought was disrespectful.

In fact, Baltimore thought it was so disrespectful that they ran off the field after the final play of Sunday’s game and didn’t shake hands with Tennessee.

There was only one problem with the Ravens feeling disrespected: meeting midfield at the logo is something the Titans have done for years and it was never intended to be disrespect.

And that’s something linebacker Will Compton and left tackle Taylor Lewan reiterated recently on their podcast, “Bussin’ With The Boys” (you can view the clip of them talking about it here, but warning: language is NSFW).

“We break it down every game in the middle of the field,” Compton said.

“This is going back to when you guys played the Ravens this year. Even going farther… going into the divisional game, we did the same thing against the Ravens last year… For like the last five years, that’s how its always been done,” Lewan explained.

“They had bulletin board material all week long, so when they made that play and he did that, tou-(expletive)-che, that’s a good chirp back for what you thought we were doing to you,” Compton said. “Cause then after the game was over, they were all sprinting to the locker room, trying to grab their teammates to not dap up or shake hands, or nothing…”

“Ya know what? Listen, the Ravens are not winning the Super Bowl,” Compton predicted. “So, I’ll get to put Jordan crying faces on them chirping us on the logo on all of the players that did that and drop it when they lose.”

Since the Week 11 pregame spat, I’ve written on multiple occasions that the Ravens shouldn’t have taken the Titans congregating on their logo as disrespect because it’s something they have always done.

Clearly the Ravens never got the memo that this pregame ritual isn’t specific to them and took it way more personally than they ever should have.

Whatever the case may be, clearly that misunderstanding was a source of motivation, and in the end Baltimore had the last laugh, even though Tennessee was never laughing in the first place.

Titans’ Twitter account put Will Compton on a mock injury report for his awful haircut

Boom, roasted.

Poor Will Compton, although based on his Twitter feed, the Tennessee Titans linebacker is taking the roasting he’s receiving in stride.

He spent Christmas Eve getting destroyed by both the internet and his Titans teammates for a new coif in which he shaved all the way around the bottom of his hair and left a bunch on top. He called it a “low skin fade” and suggested it might have been inspired by Peaky Blinders.

The Titans’ Twitter account had the most fun with it, though. They tweeted a mock injury report in which he was doubtful for the Week 16 game against the Green Bay Packers with “haircut” as an injury.

Here’s the look plus the Titans’ tweet:

Some roasting from his teammates:

Compton appears to be weathering the storm:

Titans’ social media, players are roasting Will Compton’s haircut

No player is ever completely safe in an NFL locker room.

Nobody is ever safe in an NFL locker room, and that includes Tennessee Titans inside linebacker, Will Compton, whose new haircut is not getting glowing reviews from his teammates.

In fact, the linebacker is getting roasted badly. On Thursday, Compton posted a picture of his new haircut, which was apparently part of a look that he was going for ahead of the Week 16 game versus the Green Bay Packers.

Here’s a look at the haircut that has Titans players, and even the social media team, absolutely frying Compton. Tennessee’s Twitter actually posted a fake injury report listing Compton as doubtful due to his haircut:

When speaking to the media, Titans players, including wide receiver A.J. Brown, left guard Rodger Saffold and inside linebacker Rashaan Evans, roasted Compton, also:

Give Compton credit, though, he’s being a good sport about it:

Compton has been a contributor on defense and special teams for the Titans this season, but his most memorable contribution might end up being the hilarious roasting as a result of his… um… interesting haircut.

Titans sign LB Will Compton to 53-man roster

Will Compton helped fill the void left by Jayon Brown’s injury in Week 12.

Linebacker Will Compton is officially back on an active NFL roster after the Tennessee Titans promoted him from the practice squad on Tuesday.

Throughout the season, the linebacker has moved between the active roster and the practice squad, seeing action in a total of seven games with one start. Over those games, he’s recorded 15 tackles.

Compton is currently splitting the responsibility of taking the place of Jayon Brown, who is out for the season with an elbow injury, with David Long Jr.

The duo has done a fine job to this point, with both players recording three tackles in last week’s 45-26 win over the division rival Indianapolis Colts.

This season marks Compton’s eighth in the NFL, and he’s well-traveled, having seen time with the Titans, Redskins and Raiders after going undrafted out of Nebraska.

Compton and the Titans will take on the visiting Cleveland Browns next at noon CT on Sunday in Nissan Stadium.

Tennessee Titans signing Will Compton to practice squad

The Boy is back again.

Less than one full day after the Tennessee Titans waived linebacker Will Compton, The Boy is back again. According to Compton himself, he is signing on to the Titans’ practice squad.

Now, one of the fan-favorites in Nashville is staying right where he is.

Compton has played in five games for Tennessee this season, with the vast majority of his work coming on special teams.

There was a very different tone on Monday, though, as Compton released this statement on Twitter after being waived by Tennessee on Monday afternoon.

Prior to spending the 2019 season with the Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders, Compton was a member of the Titans in 2018, his first stint with the team.

As it stands now, the Titans have 51 players on their 53-man roster. We expect cornerback Adoree’ Jackson to be activated off IR this week, and perhaps fellow inside linebacker Daren Bates will get promoted to take Compton’s roster spot, but nothing has been made official yet.

Will Compton ‘mulled’ OnlyFans account if Titans were faced with forfeit

Will Compton of the Titans was already thinking of how to make money if the Titans had to forfeit a game.

The Tennessee Titans have been plagued by COVID-19. There was some buzz the team was going to have to forfeit its upcoming game with the Buffalo Bills.

The contest has been moved to Tuesday but Tennessee isn’t out of the woods yet.

Still, one player on the Titans was making plans had he been forced to lose one of his game checks.

Will Compton was going the social media route, doing cameos and getting somewhat risque with an OnlyFans account.

Can’t think he was only joking because, of course, this is 2020.
