Whoopi Goldberg’s reunion with the Sister Act 2 cast had millennials in tears

This Sister Act 2 reunion is the most wholesome thing you’ll see all day.

Whoopi Goldberg and The View had a Sister Act 2 reunion, including a performance from some of the original cast members, and millennials everywhere collectively lost it.

I’m totally biased when I say this, but Sister Act 2 is one of the best movies ever made. The acting is darn good, and the singing is phenomenal. The singing is so good that over 30 years later, hearing music from the film will give you chills.

Earlier this week, The View invited many members of the original cast on the show for a reunion, which included performing a rousing rendition of Oh Happy Day — an iconic moment from the movie —  and you have to see this amazing step back in time to believe it.

One of the film’s biggest stars, musician Lauryn Hill, was noticeably absent from the performance, but that didn’t stop fans from celebrating the moment and weeping at how AWESOME it was.

Here’s what they said as they watched the reunion:

Legendary voice actor sings ‘Be Prepared’ in Notre Dame shirt

This is cool, especially if you grew up with 90s Disney.

If you’ve seen any movie made in the past 30 years, chances are you’ve seen “The Lion King”. Among the many memorable songs from that flick is “Be Prepared”, sung by Scar, one of the most famous Disney villains of all-time. Jeremy Irons voiced the character, but he actually didn’t sing the entirety of his character’s song.

There’s one part of “Be Prepared” in which Scar shouts intensely, and this exhausted Irons’ voice enough that he couldn’t sing the rest of the song. Enter Jim Cummings, who already was voicing Ed, one of the hyenas alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Cheech Marin. Cummings filled in for Irons for the last part of the song and did it so well that one couldn’t tell the difference.

Cummings’ filmography is too lengthy to list here, but you definitely have heard his voice if you’ve watched a lot of animation made over the past 40 years. He chose to sample one of those when he posted a video of him singing “Be Prepared” on social media. Oh, and he was wearing an interesting shirt:

While we can’t confirm at this time whether Cummings in fact is a Notre Dame fan, it’s cool to see this nonetheless. Maybe in light of this, the Irish should add “Be Prepared” to their pregame playlist? Just a thought.

Whoopi Goldberg jumps into WNBA salary debate, slams ESPN on The View for not investing more

“The women have the headlines. They have the fans. They have the viewers.”

So many people are talking about WNBA salaries and how things like TV and media rights play a direct role in their value. Now, Whoopi Goldberg is seemingly peeved with ESPN over the network’s approach to investing in the league.

In case you missed it, there was a lot of conversation this week about how much WNBA players make and why it’s so much less than the NBA. (We explained why here.) That chatter has somehow made its way over to Whoopi Goldberg and The View.

Goldberg took time on Thursday to make an impassioned plea for action regarding WNBA salaries and specifically took exception to ESPN’s approach.

Here’s what she told those in the studio audience (Warning: NSFW language used):

“The women have the headlines. They have the fans. They have the viewers. When the [expletive] are they going to get paid?…

Because ESPN, who we work with as part of the Disney thing, they came in and swooped in and said, ‘OK, we’re going to start to do this.’

I know there’s a re-up coming, but they should have kissed this deal by taking care of all of the WNBA and giving them enough money for a bump up because you know you have another deal to make. They should have sweetened that deal.”
