Packers officially introduce new white helmet for 2024 season

The Packers officially introduced a new white alternate helmet for the 2024 season.

The Green Bay Packers will have a new alternate white helmet for the 2024 season. After teasing the look on Wednesday night, the team officially introduced the new helmet on Thursday morning.

The tagline of the all-white uniform and helmet set: “A whiteout is coming.”

Here’s the first look:

The Packers are matching the new white helmet with the previously worn white uniform and pants, which was a “Color Rush” addition to the team’s wardrobe.

The Packers will wear the helmet and uniform combo on Sunday. Oct. 20 against the Houston Texans at Lambeau Field. The game is currently scheduled for a noon kickoff from Green Bay.

The Packers are calling the game “Winter Warning” and are encouraging fans attending the game at Lambeau Field to embrace the all-white look.

Here are some screenshots from the reveal:

Here is Jordan Love and Josh Jacobs in the new uniform set, from Adam Schefter of ESPN:

The Packers took all the gold out of their helmets, leaving only the green “G” logo and two green stripes. The uniform and pants still have yellow stripes, however.

Should the Packers add a white helmet alternative in 2024?

The Packers could be getting a white alternate helmet in 2024.

The Green Bay Packers might have a white alternate helmet added during the 2024 season. Back in April, Paul Lukas of Uni Watch reported the Packers would be adding a white helmet this season. On Tuesday, detective work from Justis Mosqueda of Acme Packing Co. discovered a white helmet in the gameplay preview of “Madden NFL 25.”

Adding the new white helmet to the Packers’ all-white “Color Rush” uniforms could give the team a fresh new look. Other teams, such as the Minnesota Vikings, have debuted all-white uniforms in recent years, and several teams have added new alternate helmets.

But could the Packers — a team so grounded in history and tradition — pull off a new white helmet?

To help answer the question, we had Coley Cleary, the NFL Wire’s graphic designer, produce a preview of the all-white look.

Here it is:

Based on the “Madden” screenshot, it’s possible the helmet could lack the middle gold stripe, leaving it only white and green.

The Packers do have some history with white. In the late 1950s, the team wore simple green and white uniforms with white helmets. Adding the white alternate helmet in 2024 could serve as a “throwback” option, or at least a helmet based on the team’s history.

Could the Packers pull off a white helmet?

The Bengals are introducing a new white helmet. Could the Packers pull off the look? We gave it a whirl.

The Cincinnati Bengals teased a new white helmet for the 2022 season on Thursday. Is there any way the Green Bay Packers could pull off a white helmet?

We put the graphics department at Packers Wire to work to help us find out.

The team’s “Color Rush” white uniforms were used as a starting point and guide. In our design, the striping on the helmet matches the arms and pants, and we added a gold accent to the Packers’ “G” logo.

Admittedly, it’s not a great look. The Packers are green and gold, and this whole idea doesn’t have nearly enough of the core colors. With the “Color Rush” design, at least the Packers had gold in the helmet.

The NFL is allowing alternate helmets in 2022, but the Packers haven’t announced any kind of addition. The team’s well-regarded throwback uniforms (with gold helmets and no logo) will make a return.
