What is West Toronto Prep, which lost 96-0 to IMG Academy in game called at the half?

IMG Academy 96, West Toronto Prep 0 ends at halftime

IMG Academy faced West Toronto Prep on Friday.

Not sure how the game came to be because it was a mismatch of epic proportions.

How epic? How about 96-0 at halftime when it was mercifully called?

And if you want to use this as a math lesson, here is how IMG got to 96.

West Toronto Prep is 0-6 and has been outscored 291-6.

Seems like West Toronto Prep might be the 2022 version of Bishop Sycamore. And no one bothered to research this at a nationally ranked school like IMG?

Pennlive.com did a story on West Toronto Prep, and the supposed challenges it faced since the pandemic, in September:

“In our earlier years, it wasn’t as much of a headache. We would sort of just play babysitter on the road,” said WTP head coach and program Co-founder O’Neil Wilson, who doubles as the team’s offensive coordinator and coach of wide receivers and running backs.

“Being an immersive program, though, it’s about getting them the true experience of being a true student-athlete and being on the road, staying in a hotel, and still getting the grades. Our guys are tested and it’s about mentorship for our coaches. We’re here to prepare them for university.”

Wilson played at Toronto’s Central Technical School and eventually the University of Connecticut as a wide receiver. He spent seven years in the Canadian Football League.

Assistant head coach and defensive coordinator Dwayne Mundle is a former safety and linebacker at West Virginia who lasted 10 seasons in the CFL.

The “school’s” Twitter account has not tweeted since September.

The $30,000/year school founded in 2009 was close to gaining five athletes from Ohio, and one each from California and Alabama, in 2020 before the pandemic closed the U.S.-Canada border.

“There are obstacles we face, sure. Chemistry is our battle,” Wilson told Pennlive.com. “We want to make the model more like American’s top schools, where you have junior high programs aligned. It’s just patience. But we play with pride and toughness.”

IMG Academy game called after nearly 100-point lead at halftime

Quick work on Senior Night for the Ascenders.

It was an abbreviated Senior Night down in Bradenton, Florida. More like a Senior Late-Afternoon.

IMG Academy (7-1) scored 96 points in the first half of its final regular-season home finale against West Toronto Prep (Ontario, Canada), leading officials to call it at halftime.

Final: 96-0.

It’s the Ascenders’ seventh consecutive win since losing the season opener against Miami Central (Fla.)—the No. 3 team in the latest USA TODAY Sports Super 25— in a tight battle, 20-14.

IMG, currently ranked No. 12 in the Super 25, has won its last four games by a total of 254 points to zero, leaving little doubt that the team is one of the most dominant in the country.

And the game next week (Nov. 18) could provide a clearer picture of just how commanding the IMG football squad really is this season: a road test against the No. 2 team in the country, St. Frances Academy (Md.).
