How former Alabama players performed in Week 3 of NFL season

See how former Alabama players in the NFL performed in Week 3 of the season.

Alabama is one of the top programs in the country when it comes to producing NFL talent. The Crimson Tide are well-represented on both sides of the ball and at just about every position on the football field.

Week 3 of the 2023 season kicked off on Thursday night and concluded on Monday night, which means a lot of former Alabama players suiting up for their respective professional teams.

Believe it or not, 25 of the 32 teams in the NFL have at least one Alabama player on its roster. There are not many college programs that can say the same.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down how former Alabama players performed in their Week 3 matchups.

GALLERY: Shots from Tampa Bay’s loss to Philadelphia in Week 3

Here are some of our favorite shots from the Bucs’ Monday night football outing:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered their first loss of the season on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, making the team 2-1 heading into Week 3.

It was a rough night all around for Tampa Bay, getting dominated in overall yardage and being unable to drum up anything offensively. The team was only able to score a touchdown when it was too late in the fourth quarter and the Eagles generally controlled the ball game from start to finish across the board.

Here are a few of our favorite shots from the game:

Watch WR Mike Evans’ touchdown grab against the Eagles

Evans’ reception in the back of the end zone was the only touchdown of the night for Tampa Bay.

It was a rough loss for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night, but it didn’t come without positives.

One of those positives was the performance of [autotag]Mike Evans[/autotag], who was slow to get going but turned it on when it was just a bit too late. He had a great drive in the fourth quarter, catching two balls for big gains and nabbing a crazy one-handed catch down the middle of the field. When the team got to the red zone, he caught a ball toward the back of the end zone for Tampa Bay’s only touchdown of the night. The Bucs would later convert on the two-point conversion to get their final total of 11 points.

10 studs from Chiefs’ Week 3 win vs. Bears

Check out which #Chiefs stood out as top performers against the #Bears in Week 3:

The Kansas City Chiefs earned their second win of the 2023 season against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, leaving no doubt about which team on the field was a true contender.

While Chicago was completely overwhelmed in the game, Kansas City managed to outshine the presence of country music superstar Taylor Swift, who attended the game in box seats courtesy of All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce.

Wins like the one the Chiefs secured against the Bears don’t come easy, even if they come against the team that held the first overall pick in April’s draft. A multitude of Kansas City’s players turned out spectacular performances to make the 41-10 result possible, and their efforts shouldn’t go unnoticed, even if Swift’s attendance stole the show in the media.

Check out some of the Chiefs’ top performers from Week 3 below to see who impressed in Kansas City’s dominant blowout win over Chicago  on Sunday:

Bucs taken down by the Eagles 25-11

The Bucs lost their first game of the season in ugly fashion on Monday night.

Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers received a kelly green reality check on Monday Night Football, courtesy of the Philadelphia Eagles. In an ugly 25-11 loss, Tampa Bay learned that despite their winning record, they just are not quite ready to play with the big boys.

The Eagles were simply dominant in the trenches on both sides of the ball. With arguably the best offensive line in the NFL, Philadelphia pounded the rock against an ordinarily stout Tampa defensive front. Running back D’Andre Swift put up 130 yards on 16 carries thanks to running lanes wide enough for a Gasparilla parade:

On defense, the Bucs simply had no answer for Philadelphia’s defensive line. The offensive line was so overwhelmed that they allowed a third-quarter safety despite having their jumbo package on the field. The interior linemen in particular were routinely and soundly beaten in every respect by the Eagles’ rotation of former Georgia Bulldogs Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter.

The game might have been closer had the Bucs’ offense gotten out of its own way, especially in the first half. After two games of largely mistake-free football, Tampa Bay turned the ball over twice in the second quarter, first with an interception from Baker Mayfield and a Rachaad White fumble.

Mike Evans had a rough start as well, dropping two passes, including a potential third-down conversion on the Bucs’ first drive and touchdown early in the second half. He did his best in the second half to make up for his dismal first, making one of the most spectacular catches of his career in the fourth quarter on the Bucs’ only touchdown drive:

More than any game previous this season, pressure from the defense got to Baker Mayfield, who was unable to keep his sack escape artist act going. He went 15-for-25 for 146 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT while taking two sacks. While his receivers frequently let him down with bad drops, Mayfield was seeing ghosts on the field by the second quarter and was missing open receivers. Tampa Bay possessed the ball just over 21 minutes, pale in comparison to Philadelphia’s nearly 39 minutes with the football.

With little help from the offense, Tampa Bay’s defense went into “bend, don’t break” mode. Despite allowing 472 total yards, they held Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense to field goals on three red zone trips and picked him off on a fourth.

The Bucs defense was tested in every way possible as injuries clearly affected some performances while additional players were lost. Devin White’s groin injury made him appear to be playing in mud and likely kept him from returning his interception to the opposite end zone. Cornerback Jamel Dean went down early with a shoulder injury and tried to play through it before he was declared out in the second half.

Quite simply, the Bucs were outclassed by the Eagles. They were soundly beaten on both sides of the line, and offensive coordinator Dave Canales looked every bit as green as the Eagles throwback jerseys from a play-calling perspective. The bootlegs, counters and screens to avoid Philadelphia’s stout defensive interior were missing in action, and futile insistence on running the ball straight at Jordan Davis was reminiscent of Byron Leftwich’s inability to adjust to anything opposing defenses did last season.

Tampa Bay faces a slightly less daunting foe next week in New Orleans. While the Saints also have a solid defense, their offensive line lacks the talent and seasoning of Philadelphia’s. The main question will be just how beat up will the Bucs be heading into a short week after this physical loss to Eagles.

WATCH: Bucs LB Devin White picks off Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

LB Devin White made sure to get his due against the Eagles Monday night.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense is going to get their turnovers.

The Bucs managed to get one off the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. Late into the second quarter, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pass to the flat that was intended to go to running back D’Andre Swift, but there appeared to be a miscommunication that caused Swift to overrun the route and Bucs linebacker Devin White to come down with the catch. He returned the ball to midfield to set up a potential last offensive drive for Tampa Bay, but unfortunately, the Bucs would fumble the ball on that ensuing possession.

Behind the Numbers: Packers overcome 17-point fourth quarter deficit vs. Saints

Highlighting the numbers that help tell the story of the Packers’ comeback win over the Saints in Week 3.

After grasping defeat from the jaws of victory last week in Atlanta, the Green Bay Packers did a complete 180 against the New Orleans Saints, overcoming a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Jordan Love, in his first start in Green Bay, sparked the comeback.

“I’ve never been a part of a game like this,” said Matt LaFleur after the game. “The guys in the locker room, they believed. They believed in one another, and they continued to battle. That’s really, as a coach, that’s all you can ask of anybody is to continue to fight, continue to battle.”

Now, having had a chance to rewatch what took place on the field, it’s time to go Behind the Numbers with the stats and figures that you need to know about from the Packers’ performance.
