Jets snap counts: Depth chart breakdown from Week 12 vs. Dolphins

Jets snap counts: Depth chart breakdown from Week 12 vs. Dolphins

Black Friday turned out to be another dark day for the New York Jets, falling to 4-7 after a 34-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins, including the Fail Mary that turned into a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown for Miami. The Jets have lost four straight but hey, at least some of their young players are getting reps. One of the big stories of the game was New York making wide receiver Allen Lazard a healthy scratch. Lazard signed a four-year, $44 million contract ($22 million guaranteed) in the offseason. He is fourth on the team in receiving.

Lazard’s benching allowed some other young talent to get a chance to gain some experience against the Dolphins. We’ll take a look at the offensive and defensive snap counts from Week 12 and how much the Jets are still going with the youth movement.

Colts’ snap counts from 45-26 loss to Titans in Week 12

Snap counts from Week 12.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-4) suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Tennessee Titans (8-3) on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium, losing 45-26 in what was a drubbing from the start.

With several starters either injured or on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the Colts were extremely short-handed at various important positions. So the snap counts will look very different than what they have in recent weeks.

Here’s a look at the offensive snaps counts from the Week 12 loss:

Notes

  • With C Ryan Kelly (neck) inactive, rookie Danny Pinter saw every snap anchoring the offensive line.
  • Le’Raven Clark subbed in for LT Anthony Castonzo (knee), who left in the first quarter and didn’t return.
  • As rookie RB Jonathan Taylor was on the COVID-19 list, Nyheim Hines took 65% of the snaps and led the backfield in touches (18). Jordan Wilkins saw just 35% of the snaps and nine touches.
  • TE Mo Alie-Cox led the way almost doubling Jack Doyle’s snap count. Trey Burton continues to be the receiving option in the TE room.

Here’s a look at the defensive and special teams snaps in Week 12:

Notes

  • With DT DeForest Buckner out, Grover Stewart played a season-high 90% of snaps.
  • The Colts seemingly went with a heavier package as DT Taylor Stallworth played 53% of snaps and DE Tyquan Lewis played 76% of the defensive snaps.
  • CB Rock Ya-Sin was seemingly benched for parts of the game. His 38% snap count is the lowest of the season. Prior to that, he hadn’t played fewer than 67% of snaps.
  • DE Kemoko Turay continues to be on a pitch count as he played just four snaps.

Colts’ snap counts from 20-17 loss against Texans

Snap counts from the Week 12 loss.

The Indianapolis Colts (6-5) dropped their Thursday night matchup against the Houston Texans (7-4) at NRG Stadium.

In what was a rough outing for the passing game, the Colts managed just 129 yards out of Jacoby Brissett while the rushing attack gained 175 yards. The commitment to the run was surprising at times, especially late in the fourth quarter when the Colts had a chance to tie the game.

Here are the offensive snap counts from the Week 12 loss:

With Marlon Mack out a few more weeks, Jonathan Williams got the start against the Texans. Many believed Jordan Wilkins would see some work, but head coach Frank Reich revealed they were using him only in emergency situations.

T.Y. Hilton was on a pitch count as he returns from his calf injury, playing just 37% of the snaps.

Here’s a look at the defensive and special teams snap counts:

Cornerbacks Kenny Moore and Pierre Desir along with linebacker Darius Leonard and safety Malik Hooker were to defenders to play 100% of the snaps. Rookie cornerback Marvell Tell saw an increase in snaps with fellow rookie Rock Ya-Sin inactive due to an ankle injury.

Quincy Wilson, who was active for the first time in a month, only saw two snaps on special teams.
