Wizards at Knicks picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 115, Wizards 109

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Knicks haven’t been great at home, and a (-450) pricetag for the home side is unplayable. With the Wizards’ 3 top scorers sidelined, backing the road team at (+340) presents little value.

Against the spread

LEAN WIZARDS +9.5 (-110).

New York hasn’t been great at covering at home, posting just an 18-18-3 ATS record at MSG. The Knicks are 3-3 ATS over their last 6 games while the Wizards are 2-1-1.

The Wizards are actually 2-2 straight up in their last 4 games as well. Washington is 18-18-3 ATS on the road this season. It should be a public fade as well.

For a small unit, take the WIZARDS +9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 226.5 (-110).

On Sunday afternoon, the stars will not be on display. The Wizards won’t have a player taking the court that is averaging over 11 points per game. All 3 stars that are sidelined averaged more than 20 per game.

The Wizards are also 2-3 O/U in their last 5 games. The Knicks are 2-2 O/U in their last 4 games and have scored 106 or fewer in 2 of their last 4.

And with neither ranked top 20 in pace, take the UNDER 226.5 (-110).

Washington Wizards at New York Knicks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Washington Wizards at New York Knicks Team odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Wizards (18-26) face the New York Knicks (25-20) at Madison Square Garden Wednesday. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Wizards vs. Knicks odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Wizards and Knicks both blew 4th-quarter leads and took a loss on Monday.

Washington fell 127-118 to the Golden State Warriors. Both teams had a nearly identical shooting percentage but the Warriors were able to put up more shots thanks to 7 more rebounds, 3 of which came on the offensive glass.

New York suffered a tragic 123-121 loss to the Toronto Raptors. A crowd-erupting dunk with less than a second remaining in regulation forced overtime but the Knicks fell behind early in extra time. The Raptors led by 6 in the final minute of play and didn’t score another point but despite 3 offensive rebounds from the Knicks, they were unable to close things out.

Wizards at Knicks picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 112, Wizards 108

Moneyline

The Knicks are having the better season, obviously, but statistically, there is not a lot of separation with the Wizards.

Washington shoots 34.4% from 3; New York shoots 33.8%. Washington ranks 6th in opponents’ effective field goal percentage; the Knicks rank 4th.

That being said New York is dominant on the glass (13.3 offensive rebounds vs. Washington’s 9.3) and in attempted 3-pointers (35 attempts vs. Washington’s 31.5). Both these categories are part of a winning formula but unless the line drops for New York it’s best to AVOID.

Against the spread

The Knicks have a losing home record (11-12) and not surprisingly an even worse home ATS record (8-13-2).

Beal’s status muddies the water for anyone on the fence with this line but G Kyle Kuzma won’t be going 5 of 20 anytime soon, and the Wizards have covered in 4 of the past 5 road games against teams with a losing home record.

BET WIZARDS +5.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Under is 5-1-1 in the Wizards’ last 7 games playing when given a day of rest. On top of that the Knicks hit the Under 3 of the past 5 times when facing a team with a losing record.

Both teams have trouble taking care of the basketball and after their Monday games I expect their scores to come back down, I know 221 is a low number for how teams have been scoring the past few seasons but nevertheless, I will cautiously LEAN UNDER 221.5 (-105).

Washington Wizards at New York Knicks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Washington Wizards at New York Knicks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Wizards (16-15) travel to Madison Square Garden Thursday to take on the New York Knicks (14-17). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Wizards vs. Knicks odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

These two teams come into this game with a few of the worst ATS records in the league. The Wizards are 13-17-1 with the Knicks 13-18.

Washington is led by Bradley Beal. With the league’s 23rd-best net rating at -2.4, the Wizards are worse than their record indicates. The Knicks also have a negative net rating, the 21st-best in the league.

Led by Julius Randle, the Knicks are just 2-5 over their last 7. They have, however, covered 2 of their last 3.

Wizards at Knicks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 105, Wizards 103

Money line

BET on the KNICKS -105.

There isn’t much that separates these two sides, but the Knicks should have one mission, shut down Beal. The Wizards have lived or died by his play offensively. He’s averaging 23.3 points per game.

As for the Knicks, they don’t have a great three-point defense but are solid in the interior that plays to Washington’s weaknesses well. They aren’t a great three-point shooting team.

With Hachimura out, the Wizards may struggle to defend the versatile Randle, giving New York a slight edge. The Knicks have struggled at home, but similarly, the Wizards have struggled on the road.

I’ll take the home dog here.

Against the spread

PASS on the spread.

I like New York here, and I’d rather bet on them to win outright, getting the extra 15 cents on the dollar, than to lose by just one. The Knicks haven’t had a one-point loss yet this season.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 211.5 (-107) as both sides will be down key scorers. Given their reliance on one player to control their offense, both could struggle if Randle and Beal don’t get going.

Also, for both teams, it has been far more profitable to bet the Unders. The Knicks are 14-17 while the Wizards are 14-16-1 on the total, a combined 28-33-1.

I’d prefer the Under given the absence of key players, the season trends, and the reliance on one player.

Wizards at Knicks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 113, Wizards 107

Money line (ML)

The Wizards have lost eight of their last 10 games, including a 131-113 loss to the Knicks Tuesday night. Washington has really struggled of late, and though the Knicks have been just average recently, their defense still ranks No. 1 in the NBA.

The Wizards will have trouble scoring consistently Thursday night and with PG Derrick Rose back from his COVID-19 bout, the Knicks offense should be better, too. I like the KNICKS (-150) to win outright.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Wizards are 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games, which pales in comparison to how hot the Knicks have been (13-5-1 ATS) in their last 19 games. The Knicks blew out the Wizards as 3-point favorites Tuesday night and there’s little reason to believe they can’t cover a 3-point spread again.

Take the KNICKS -3 (-110) to cover, though they probably won’t win by 18 points again.

Over/Under (O/U)

This is a matchup between one of the best offenses and arguably the best defense in the league, with the Knicks ranking first in points per game allowed. The Over/Under is often set lower when the Knicks play, which is why it’s 224.5 points Thursday night.

The Knicks will slow down Washington’s offense and neither team will top 120 points, keeping the total on the lower end. Bet the UNDER 224.5 (-110) Thursday.
