Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Wizards (24-27) battle the Brooklyn Nets (31-20) Saturday. Tip from Barclays Center is set for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Wizards vs. Nets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Wizards and Nets have played 3 times this season with the Nets winning all 3 and going 2-0-1 against the spread (ATS) — the most recent meeting was Dec. 12 with the Nets claiming a 112-100 road win as 5.5-point favorites. The Under hit in all 3 games.

The Wizards are coming off a 124-116 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers Friday, failing to cover as 4.5-point home favorites. The loss snapped a 6-game ATS cover streak for the Wizards, who are 24-24-3 ATS on the season.

The Nets are in turmoil with G Kyrie Irving having requested a trade. Brooklyn lost 139-96 at Boston Wednesday, failing to cover as a 9-point road underdog. It is 5-2 ATS over its last 7 and 24-25-2 ATS on the season.

Wizards at Nets picks and predictions

Prediction

Wizards 114, Nets 112

Moneyline

SPRINKLE A LITTLE ON WASHINGTON (+125).

The Wizards have been winning on the road lately. Prior to Friday’s loss to Portland, they were riding a 6-game win streak, 5 of which were on the road.

The Nets are 2-3 at home without Durant in the lineup this season. With the stress put on the Nets by Irving coupled with Durant being sidelined and their struggles at home, back the WIZARDS (+125).

Against the spread

BET WASHINGTON +2.5 (-102).

If you can get a couple of points on the spread, a bettor might as well take them. Washington is 7-3 ATS over its last 10 and 6-1 ATS over its last 7. The Nets haven’t had similar success, going 5-5 ATS over their last 10 and 2-2 over their last 4.

They will also be facing one of the most efficient defensive teams with Washington ranked 5th in the NBA in opponents’ field-goal percentage (46.3%). The Wizards should be able to keep their road luck alive here.

Between WASHINGTON +2.5 (-102) and the moneyline of WASHINGTON (+125), divvy up 1.5 UNITS on the 2 wagers.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 228.5 (-108).

Every matchup between these 2 teams has gone Under this season. The Nets are also 22-28 O/U this season. The Wizards have gone Under in 3 of their last 4 and have held their opponent to 106 or fewer in 3 of those 4. Their defense should thrive against a limited Brooklyn team.

Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Wizards (11-10) visit Barclays Center Wednesday to take on the Brooklyn Nets (11-11). Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Wizards vs. Nets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Wizards torched the Timberwolves on Monday, winning 142-127 and easily covering as 1-point home favorites. Washington took a 19-point lead into the half.

That cover snapped a 6-game streak of not covering. The Wizards are now 4-5-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 10 games. They have also gone Over the projected total in 4 straight.

Brooklyn failed to cover as 11.5-point home favorites on Monday, beating the Orlando Magic 109-102.

The Nets are just 9-12-1 ATS yet are 4-3 ATS in their last 7. Brooklyn is led by F Kevin Durant, who is averaging 30 points per game and shooting 54.8% from the field.

Wizards at Nets picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 115, Wizards 111

Moneyline

PASS.

The Nets are just 6-4 at home. At (-200), I wouldn’t back them given the value. Similarly, the Wizards are 3-6 on the road and not worth the gamble at (+170).

Against the spread

LEAN WIZARDS +5.5 (-115).

The Nets are just 4-6 ATS as the home team. Washington is 4-4-1 as the road team, so it does have more success on the road than Brooklyn does at home. The Wizards are also 5-5-1 ATS as an underdog while the Nets are 6-8 ATS as a favorite.

They have the playmaking in G Bradley Beal to keep this game close. The Wizards rank 23rd in net rating, and while the Nets rank 14th, they are only split by 1.8.

With the high-level shotmaking the Wizards have and the Nets struggles defensively, especially with Simmons sidelined, I’d back Wizards +5.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 229.5 (-110).

Neither of these teams like to push the pace nor rebound offensively.

The Nets are the worst offensive rebounding team in the NBA, and the Wizards aren’t far behind, ranking 24th in offensive rebounding rate. They respectively rank 24th and 21st in pace as well.

Combined they are 20-23 O/U this season.

Considering the styles of each team and the lacking extra opportunities, back the Under 229.5 (-110).

Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Wizards (26-31) wrap up a quick two-game road trip on Thursday night against the Brooklyn Nets (31-27). This is the last game before the All-Star break for both teams. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. ET at Barclays Center. Below, we look at the Wizards vs. Nets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Wizards are coming off a 113-108 loss to the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night. They have split their last four games but only have won three of their last 13 games. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.

The Nets have won their last two games after having lost 11 straight games. They beat the New York Knicks 111-106 Wednesday. They recently acquired G Ben Simmons in a trade that sent G James Harden to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Wizards at Nets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 112, Wizards 104

Money line

The Wizards have struggled, winning only three of their last 13 games, but the Nets have only two wins in their last 13. The difference is that, since adding G Seth Curry and C Andre Drummond after the trade with the 76ers, the Nets are 2-0. Drummond gives them size and Curry shooting.

The Nets are only 13-14 at home, but Washington is 11-16 on the road.

The Nets are 2-1 against the Wizards this season, winning the other game they played in Brooklyn.

You’re late to the party, and it’s chalky, but take the NETS (-205).

Against the spread

The Wizards have covered the spread only twice in their last 10 games and are 21-34-2 ATS overall this season. They are not a good bet on the road at 8-18-1 ATS.

The Nets have only covered the spread four times in their last 10 games but have done so in three straight coming into tonight’s matchup.

With the new additions, the Nets should be able to take care of business against Washington before the All-Star break.

Take the NETS -4.5 (-120).

Over/Under

The Nets’ last two games, both wins, had fewer than 218 points.

The totals for the three games between the two teams this season were 194, 237 and 225.

Washington has allowed 112 or more in four of their last five games.

Before the Nets’ two wins, they had allowed 110 points or more in nine straight.

But if we are going to look at how the Nets look now, it is going to be close, but I LEAN UNDER 215.5 (-115).

Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Wizards (2-0) visit the Brooklyn Nets (1-2) Monday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Barclays Center. Below, we look at the Wizards vs. Nets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Nets came into the season as the favorites to win the NBA Finals but have disappointed so far. Brooklyn is led by SF Kevin Durant and SG James Harden and remains without PG Kyrie Irving.

The Nets have received big-time contributions from PF LaMarcus Aldridge and PG Patty Mills, a couple of veterans they bring off the bench. They’ve lost to the Milwaukee Bucks and Charlotte Hornets, both by more than 15 points and defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 114-109.

The Wizards are led by SG Bradley Beal who finished the 2020-2021 season second league-wide in points per game with 31.3.

The Wiz are undefeated, taking down the Indiana Pacers 135-134 in overtime and then also holding the Toronto Raptors to just 83 points in a season-opening road victory. This will be their biggest challenge yet.

Wizards at Nets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 118, Wizards 108

Money line

PASS on the money line. While the +230 for the Wizards to pull off an upset is intriguing, a hobbled Beal and no Hachimura would have me looking elsewhere.

Even if the Wizards were at full strength this would likely be a pass as the Nets are just overloaded with talent.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the NETS -6.5 (-120) with it receiving some juice from the sportsbooks.

Again, with the league’s second-leading scorer from a season ago potentially nursing an injury, I’m not liking backing the road team. Also, Durant and Harden haven’t played up to par.

The Nets would be 0-3 if not for a fourth quarter comeback against the Sixers However, at 1-2, they still have two losses of 16 or more points. It’s been an ugly start, and with PF Blake Griffin expected back, the Nets should be looking for a statement win at home.

I believe they get it. Especially with Hachimura out, I expect a big game from Durant as he should be seeing a subpar defender as well.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 231.5 (-108) as the best value in this game. Sportsbooks and fans continue to bank on the Nets offense being one of the best in the NBA.

With Harden and Durant, two former scoring title winners both still in their prime, there’s no reason they shouldn’t have topped 115 in any of their three games.

But, they haven’t, and despite the prediction that they hit the mark at home, the Nets defense and a banged-up Wizards team is what should help fuel the Under to hit in this one.

In their sole performance topping 100 so far this season, the Wiz put up 19 threes. I do not see that happening often. Fade the Wizards and back a capable Nets defense here.

Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Washington Wizards at Brooklyn Nets NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Brooklyn Nets (28-14) host the Washington Wizards (15-25) Sunday at Barclays Center for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Wizards-Nets odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Washington just snapped a five-game losing skid in which it went 1-4 against the spread, by upsetting the Utah Jazz 131-122 as a 10.5-point home underdog Thursday.

The Nets had their six-game winning streak (4-2 ATS) broken after losing to the Orlando Magic 121-113 as 10.5-point road favorites Friday.

Brooklyn hasn’t regressed at all since losing SF Kevin Durant to injury Feb. 15. It has gone 11-2 straight up and covered the spread in 10 of those games.

The Wizards are 2-0 straight up and ATS against the Nets this year and Brooklyn had both Durant and SG Kyrie Irving for each of those meetings.

Wizards at Nets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 124, Wizards 119

Money line (ML)

PASS with a slight lean on Wizards (+290).

Washington is a live dog in this game and the money line is almost juicy enough to sprinkle on it; however, fading the Nets lately would’ve caused a gambler to go broke.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The WIZARDS +8.5 (-110) have already proven this season they can keep up with the Nets hence the two wins and covers.

While Brooklyn PG James Harden has played his way into the MVP race since joining the Nets, KD is the better player so the previous Wizards-Nets results are relevant.

Furthermore, Washington performs above bookmakers’ expectations on the road vs. quality opponents and is 5-2 ATS in its past seven road games against teams with a winning percentage above .600. Brooklyn takes its foot off the gas at home vs. bad teams and is 4-5 ATS at home against sub-.500 teams.

Also, Washington is 14-6 ATS when getting 7.5 or more points as the underdog whereas Brooklyn 4-9 ATS when laying 7.5 or more points.

BET WIZARDS +8.5 (-110) for 1.25 units.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS because this total (247.5 and climbing) is way too high for me to confidently bet.

On one hand, there are a number of ways an Under cashes, but on the other hand, these teams have a combined 50-32 O/U record this season.

If anything, I lean Under 247.5 (-105) since the market is going in the opposite direction and if this is a blowout, either way, both teams will sit their starters and probably tank the total.

Wizards at Nets: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 129, Wizards 114

Money line (ML)

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE. I don’t have the bankroll to lay -350 for an outright Nets victory. I’d be fairly surprised if Brooklyn lost but not shocked and it’s not very sharp taking that big of a favorite in regular-season NBA action.

Against the spread (ATS)

Washington finally got a win its last time out by pasting the Minnesota Timberwolves 130-109 as a 1.5-point road favorite. The Wizards did most of their damage in the third quarter, outscoring the Timberwolves 40-14. Washington PG Russell Westbrook was inactive in the game but the team stepped up on his absence by knocking down 55.1% of its shots and notching 35 assists to Minnesota’s 17.

The Nets split a back-to-back with the Atlanta Hawks but lost the second meeting 114-96 on New’s Year Day after an exhilarating 145-141 win a couple of nights prior. Brooklyn’s offense cratered Friday as the Nets shot only 40.7% from the field, 18.9% from 3-point range and scored just 6 fast break points.

For what it’s worth, the Wizards won last year’s season series 2-1 (2-1 ATS) with the Nets winning their final meeting 118-110 as 4-point favorites in the Orlando Bubble Aug. 2. Nets PG Kyrie Irving played in only one of those games—a 113-107 Feb. 1 loss—and obviously, SF Kevin Durant didn’t suit up for Brooklyn last year.

Neither team is living up to bookmakers’ expectations—both are 2-4 ATS—but Brooklyn’s results are a little more concerning because it feels like the Nets carry themselves like a title team when they haven’t won jack.

Here’s the thing, though: Given Durant and Westbrook’s history, KD and by extension, the Nets should give a full-fledged effort. I am not saying there’s animosity there but hoopers always want to have bragging rights over basketball buddies. That’s aside from Brooklyn having way more talent and depth compared to Washington.

GIMME NETS -7.5 (-110) for 1.5 units.

Over/Under (O/U)

The whole KD-Westbrook rivalry thing works both ways and I think we see a bevy of awesome offensive performances in Wizards-Nets. Wizards SG Bradley Beal, Westbrook, Durant and Irving are all ballers and we’re getting a little value presumptively on the Nets’ offense given the stinker they just put up in their last game.

Both teams are in the top-10 in offensive efficiency and Washington is continuing last season’s trend of playing to the Over (4-2 O/U this season). The reason for all the Overs is because the Wizards can get buckets but cannot stop anyone (28th in opponent’s points per game). It’s a huge number so I’ll lean OVER 241.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit.
