Washington at UCLA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Washington at UCLA odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Huskies (13-10, 5-7 Pac-12) square off with the No. 9 UCLA Bruins (17-4, 8-2) at Pauley Pavilion Thursday. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Washington vs. UCLA odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

UCLA trounced Washington 74-49 as an 11-point road favorite on New Year’s Day, but enter on a 2-game losing skid. The Bruins fell 58-52 at current-No. 7 Arizona on Jan. 21 followed by a cross-town defeat 77-64 at USC last Thursday. The Bruins are still in 1st in the Pac-12 despite the losses.

Washington is a low-tier competitor in the conference and also enters off a loss, dropping a 95-72 decision to Arizona as an 8.5-point underdog last Thursday. The Huskies have struggled on the scoreboard this season with just 69.9 points per per game (213th) and will have an uphill battle against the 11th ranked scoring-defense in UCLA (60.6 points allowed per game).

Washington at UCLA picks and predictions

Prediction

UCLA 70, Washington 58

Moneyline

AVOID.

UCLA (-1900) should get the win but you should never risk 19 times your potential return on a standalone bet — this is too steep to even add to a parlay.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

BET WASHINGTON +17.5 (-110).

Even though Washington is coming off a 23-point home loss to Arizona, UCLA is not playing its best at the moment and is coming off back-to-back losses. The Huskies are 7-1 ATS after losing their previous game by more than 20 points and are 5-0 ATS following a game in which they allowed 90 points.

While UCLA should get back on track with a win, this is too big of a line for a team that has struggled in recent outings.

Over/Under

UNDER 135.5 (-105) is the play.

UCLA and its 11th-ranked defense (60.6 points) will be able to hold down a Washington attack that is 213th in the country (69.9 points).

The Bruins are just mediocre themselves on the offensive end, ranking 110th in the country with 74.8 points per game. This will be a slow-paced game and neither team will pull away or score many points.

Washington at UCLA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Washington at UCLA odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Huskies (4-0, 1-0 Pac-12) and UCLA Bruins (4-0, 1-0) meet at Rose Bowl Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Washington vs. UCLA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Washington coach Kalen DeBoer has turned around this Huskies program after inheriting a team that went 4-8 in 2021. The Huskies remain 1 of the 3 undefeated Pac-12 teams (UCLA, USC) and opened conference play with a 40-22 win at home vs. the Stanford Cardinal Sunday.

Washington is 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in its last 4 games and the Over is 5-0 in its last 5 games.

UCLA is 4-0 for the first time since 2015 after a 45-17 win at the Colorado Buffaloes Saturday. QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson is off to an impressive start (896 passing yards, 8 TD, 1 INT) in his 5th season as the Bruins’ starter.

The Over is 5-1 in UCLA’s last 6 conference games.

Washington is ranked No. 18 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Washington at UCLA picks and predictions

Prediction

Washington 35, UCLA 31

Money line

BET WASHINGTON (-145).

While Thompson-Robinson has been excellent for UCLA, Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. has been even more productive. Penix leads the nation with 1,388 passing yards, helping Washington become the 5th-ranked total offense with 530.8 yards per game. Washington’s offense should overwhelm the Bruins as they face their toughest opponent so far this season.

Against the spread

BET WASHINGTON -2.5 (-122).

There is a lot of money on Washington to cover Friday and hand UCLA its first loss. UCLA has looked great vs. lackluster competition this season but struggled vs. the South Alabama Jaguars to pull out a 32-31 win. The Bruins should be outmatched Friday trying to contain an explosive Washington offense. Lay the points.

Over/Under

PASS.

This number is a bit too high for me to take the Over, which is where I would lean in this matchup. The real opportunity in this game seems to be taking Washington to cover the spread.
