Washington football offers four-star Canadian offensive tackle

Washington offered Sidney Rouleau, a four-star offensive tackle originally from Canada who boasts 15 Power 4 offers, in the class of 2027.

Jedd Fisch and offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Brennan Carroll have left no stone unturned when searching for help in the trenches.

Washington’s coaching staff has been so thorough, in fact, that it has offered seven offensive linemen in the class of 2027 – players who are currently high school sophomores.

The most recent of those offers came on Tuesday, as the Huskies extended an offer to Pennington (New Jersey) School tackle Sidney Rouleau. A native of Quebec, Canada, Rouleau earned a fourth star from Rivals on Monday but has yet to be rated by the other major recruiting services.

Rouleau also boasts a recent offer from Michigan, who the recruit said on social media offered him on Sunday. He holds 13 other Power 4 offers, including Penn State, Florida, Tennessee, and Nebraska.

At 6-foot-6 and 295 pounds, Rouleau has only played two games of his sophomore season as of Washington’s offer, but top programs across the country are beginning to take note. Once he receives ratings from the other recruiting services, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Canadian rated as a consensus four-star prospect.

While training in Canada over the summer, Rouleau attended a camp at Michigan, where his stock started to rise despite the Wolverines waiting another three months to officially offer him.

Washington clearly took notice, and now Fisch and Carroll will try to bring the Canadian to the Pacific Northwest.

Washington commit Jack Shaffer is ready to run over competition

The Washington Huskies coaching staff did an impressive job to flip talented OL Jack Shaffer from Iowa State on Tuesday.

If you had a picture of an offensive tackle from North Dakota, you would probably think of someone that looks similar to new Washington Huskies commit Jack Shaffer. On Tuesday, he was a surprising flip from Iowa State to Washington in a major win for coach Jedd Fisch.

Shaffer had been committed to the Cyclones since April but flipped his commitment quickly after taking a recent official visit to Seattle.

Shaffer, the No. 2 prospect in North Dakota, will now look to help strengthen an offensive line in dire need of his services in 2025. Last season, he was an all-state player after he split time between left and right tackle.

He may ultimately slot in better at right tackle or inside at guard, but his versatility along the offensive line is a major selling point for his profile.

It’s always impressive when an offensive line is completely dominant, even against a lower level of competition. Shaffer checked that box last season. The 6-foot-6, 315-pound lineman was a wrecking ball for his offense. The team showed a total commitment to running behind him wherever he was lining up.

Shaffer had a very impressive rep against fellow top North Dakota prospect Kade Pietrzak, a Nebraska commit, showcasing that his adjustment to tougher competition could be smoother than expected. As of now, he is operating in a run-heavy offense where he primarily lines up in a three-point stance.

He did show some pass-blocking chops, but that will be a major point of improvement when he arrives in Seattle next year.

The mammoth offensive lineman has plenty to like about his profile; he has shown he can easily pull across the formation and be a lead blocker on counter concepts, something that will be important to the Huskies and offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll. Shaffer will look to come in and compete with the plethora of younger talent that will try to improve the Huskies’ offensive line in 2025.

2025 OL flips commitment from Iowa State to Washington

The Washington Huskies added another impressive big body to the trenches.

The Washington Huskies have filled another need along their offensive line, securing the services of three-star offensive tackle Jack Shaffer. The product of Bismark High School in North Dakota was previously committed to coach Matt Campbell and the Iowa State Cyclones before announcing his decision on Instagram on Tuesday night.

Listed at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds, Shaffer is ranked as the nation’s No. 40 offensive tackle and No. 2 player in North Dakota by 247Sports and holds six other offers, including Kansas State and Wisconsin.

In a talented group of offensive linemen headlined by four-star prospects Champ Taulealea and Zac Stascausky, Shaffer, who slots in just behind them as the No. 3 player at the position in Washington’s class, brings brute strength to offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll’s class, which now includes five commits.

His film is littered with highlights of the 2023 all-state offensive linemen handily displacing defensive linemen while mainly lined up at right tackle. Shaffer’s addition should complete Carroll and coach Jedd Fisch’s offensive line class for the 2025 cycle, giving the Huskies another true tackle that could be a solid building block for future offensive lines.

After Shaffer’s announcement, Washington’s class still sits among the top 20 in the nation, ranked as No. 19 by 247Sports.

Four-star Washington QB target sets decision date

The Washington Huskies are in contention for four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga, who will announce his college choice in October.

Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies coaching staff are looking to add one of the top quarterbacks to the 2026 class. Fisch and quarterbacks coach Jimmie Dougherty have offered 12 signal callers in the 2026 cycle and have yet to earn a commitment, with seven prospects already announcing their college choices.

On October 8, they have another opportunity to reel in a talented prospect as four-star Helaman Casuga is set to announce his college choice. The product of Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah, is ranked as the nation’s No. 13 quarterback and No. 181 overall player in the 2026 class by 247Sports.

He’ll be choosing between his top eight schools, which includes Washington, among the likes of Auburn, Nebraska, Texas A&M, USC, and others. According to On3’s recruiting prediction machine, there may be a leader for his services.

Coach Mike Elko and Texas A&M Aggies seem to have a significant lead for Casuga, receiving 97 percent of the predictions.

Casuga is built in the prototypical mold of a lot of Fisch’s other quarterback products, including Noah Fifita, Demond Williams Jr., and 2025 commits Dash Beierly and Treston Kini McMillan. If the Huskies can find a way to secure his services, he adds another slightly undersized yet strong-armed dual-threat quarterback.

Washington is looking to add talented 2026 WR Rico Blassingame

The Washington Huskies were recently named to the top ten in the chase for talented three-star wide receiver Rico Blassingame who has plenty of potential for the team in the future.

While the Washington Huskies are licking their wounds from a devastating Apple Cup loss on Saturday, that hasn’t stopped the coaching staff, led by head coach Jedd Fisch, from staying active on the recruiting trail.

It may not look the same as during the offseason, as this period of the year is often slower for recruiting news. Still, wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings got some good news when wide receiver Rico Blassingame, a three-star prospect from Arizona, named the Huskies to his top 10.

Blassingame holds offers from 16 schools, and judging by his film, teams may be more excited by him than the recruiting rankings indicate. He is a very smooth mover at his listed 6-foot-3 size and was productive even as a sophomore. He probably won’t be a straight-line burner, but his body control is more than enough to make up for it.

During Blassingame’s sophomore season, he made numerous contested catches and displayed impressive smoothness, partially thanks to his background as a basketball player. Cummings is likely watching his junior year with great interest as he attempts his room that will lose stars Jeremiah Hunter and Giles Jackson following the conclusion of the 2024 season.

Blassingame’s game is already on the right development track, and if he continues to grow as a player, he could be an immediate contributor at the college level. His film may remind Fisch and offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll of current Arizona receiver Tetairoa McMillan, likely making him a high priority for the coaching staff.

2026 is still quite a while away, but Blassingame could make an excellent addition alongside running back Ansu Sanoe, who committed to Washington in April, and it will be on the coaching staff to continue to endear itself to the talented receiver to take his talents back to his home state.

Three-star 2026 WR includes Washington among Top 10 schools

Three-star WR Rico Blassingame included the Huskies as he narrows down his list of scholarship offers.

The Washington Huskies coaching staff is looking to build on the success it has had with its 2025 recruiting class in 2026. Wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings has handed out offers to several talented prospects, and some of his top targets are starting to emerge.

One of those targets is three-star Rico Blassingame, a product of Tolleson Union High School in Tolleson, Arizona. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound prospect, who is originally from the state of Washington, holds 16 scholarship offers and on Sunday, trimmed that list down to 10.

He included Washington, which he called his “dream school” when he was originally offered by Kalen DeBoer’s staff in 2023, along with three other Big Ten schools: Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. He also included Jedd Fisch’s former school, the Arizona Wildcats, along with Texas A&M and others.

“It means a lot,” Blassingame told Bucky’s 5th Quarter of the interest he’s received from Washington’s new conference. “The Big Ten being a Power 4 conference, one of the biggest conferences in football, it definitely means a lot. I feel like I got a lot to work on, going to have an option to go to that conference. I know what to expect. It’s going to be cold wherever I go in the Big Ten. But some schools that stuck out, Wisconsin, for sure, Washington, Minnesota, reaches out a lot. Indiana reaches out a lot.”

Blassingame, who is ranked as the No. 5 player in Arizona by the 247Sports Composite, has an extremely high ceiling at wide receiver, partially due to his 6-foot-7 wingspan, which allows him to consistently reach over defenders and highpoint the ball.

Washington OL commit gets a massive ratings boost

Washington’s latest commit got a huge boost in the 247Sports rankings.

After the Washington Huskies identified Zac Stascausky as a potential target for the 2025 class along the offensive line, it didn’t take long for Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff to secure a commitment from the product of Central Catholic High School in Oregon.

The No. 2 player in Oregon flipped his commitment from Minnesota to Washington in a big win for offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll, who earned another win on Friday when 247Sports upgraded Stascausky to a four-star prospect.

“One player that instantly caught the eye of Brandon Huffman earlier this month is Zac Stascausky,” 247Sports’ director of scouting Andrew Ivins said. “A big-framed tackle that was verified at 6-foot-6.5, 282 pounds this summer, Stascausky looked the part in Portland (Ore.) Central Catholic’s rout of Wahiawa (Hawaii) Leilehua as he moved people on the left side of the line.”

“More importantly, Stascausky constantly finished plays and put defenders in the turf. What has also stood out about the first few games of Stascausky’s is how he uses his length as a positional blocker.”

With his upgrade, the Huskies now have nine prospects with a four-star rating from 247Sports in the 2025 class and 11 in total when factoring in 247’s Composite rankings. Stascausky recently received an offer from coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs and could see his stock continue to rise during his senior season.

Four-star EDGE Anthony Jones names Washington in his top 5

The Washington Huskies are one of the five teams remaining in the running for four-star edge rusher Anthony Jones.

The Washington Huskies are off to a strong start in recruiting the 2026 class. Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff has earned commitments from running back Ansu Sanoe and kicker CJ Wallace and is firmly in the running for plenty more top prospects from around the country.

On Monday night, one of those prospects, four-star edge rusher Anthony Jones, cut his list of nine potential schools down to five. The product of Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine, California, holds 15 total offers but is now set to choose between Arizona State, Michigan, Tennessee, UCLA, and Washington.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Jones has shown heavy interest in Washington and appears to have developed a strong relationship with defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi. He took an unofficial visit for Fisch’s inaugural “Luau At The Lake” over the summer and could return for another unofficial visit to take in a game this season, as it appears Fisch’s staff is trying to gather as many visitors for Washington’s national championship rematch with Michigan on October 5.

The versatile Jones, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 175 player and No. 19 edge rusher by 247Sports, would be a great fit in defensive coordinator Steve Belichick’s scheme and is a target that Husky fans should keep a close eye on.

Washington OT commit Zac Stascausky receives Georgia offer

One of the nation’s top programs extended an offer to three-star Washington commit Zac Stascausky.

The Washington Huskies coaching staff is going to have a tough battle over the next few months to hold onto its latest commit, three-star offensive tackle Zac Stascausky, who picked up an offer from Georgia on Friday.

Whenever coach Kirby Smart and his coaching staff get involved with a recruit, it (rightfully so) can cause some uneasiness in a fanbase. Just along the offensive line, the Bulldogs have had 11 players drafted since 2020, with four first-round picks.

The 6-foot-6, 275-pound product of Central Catholic High School, who is ranked as the nation’s No. 63 offensive tackle and No. 2 player in Oregon by the 247Sports Composite, has the profile of a high-ceiling tackle that could succeed in either the Big Ten or SEC.

https://twitter.com/ZacStascausky/status/1832062855363121618

He shows more than enough explosion when moving into the second level to be a major factor in the running game,” Huskies Wire’s Ben Glassmire said in his evaluation of Stascausky. “His strength and power he puts behind his hands will play very well at the college level.”

While Jedd Fisch and offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll have a lot of work to do to retain Stascausky, but the coaching staff has developed a strong relationship with him and did a very good job selling him on the school.

“Washington just felt like home,” he told 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman. “I went up there knowing that I love the atmosphere and the facilities, but I didn’t know the coaching staff that well. So I went up there, and I got to know them, and I really like what they’re doing.”

Four-star Washington commit Vander Ploog is receiving heavy interest from all over the nation

Washington Huskies commit Vander Ploog has a bright future at the tight end position, but the Huskies are facing competition for his services as he receives more and more offers.

The Washington Huskies had depth issues at the tight end position to begin the 2024 season, which have since been magnified by senior Quentin Moore‘s injury.

Even before the season began, Jedd Fisch and his coaching staff understood that it was a weakness of the current roster. The team’s approach on the recruiting trail made this even clearer as position coach Jordan Paopao earned commitments from two four-star tight ends as he looks to shore up the position.

One of those two commits, Troy High School product Vander Ploog, received an offer from Alabama on Thursday despite being committed to the Huskies. Recruiting is never over until the player signs, and Fisch knows this as well as anyone.

Alabama, now led by former Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer, can insert themselves into any recruiting battle and likely have a shot. The Huskies will need to continue to convince Ploog that Washington offers him the best chance to develop as the Crimson Tide and Oregon pursue his services.

https://twitter.com/vander_ploog/status/1831764878203482539

Ploog is immensely talented, and it’s no surprise that other teams are taking an interest in him. Despite being listed at 6-foot-6, Ploog moves like a player much smaller than that.

Teams are always looking for tight ends that can create mismatches in the passing game, and Ploog is an excellent example of that. While he is far from a finished product, getting him into a college program will allow him to develop physically and become a more complete player.

https://twitter.com/vander_ploog/status/1827804311205888040

Fisch and his talent evaluation staff have shown that they were ahead of the curve on Ploog. Since committing to Washington in June, Ploog has received offers from Alabama, Oregon, and Texas A&M.

While Ploog is racking up the offers, there is no indication at this point that any decommitment or flip is imminent. The Huskies still have a major hole at the tight end position and the enormous role that Ploog could play, even as a freshman, is likely something offensive coordinator Brennan Carroll and Fisch have made clear to him.

Make no mistake, keeping Ploog committed to the team will be a major test for this staff’s recruiting chops. Keeping him in the fold for next season will be a huge boost for the offense going forward.
