Watch: Warriors’ Pat Spencer scores first career points with dunk vs. Grizzlies

The former lacrosse star recorded his first points in the NBA in memorable fashion.

In late February, the Golden State Warriors signed G League Santa Cruz standout Pat Spencer to a two-way contract.

Spencer’s unique road to the NBA started as a collegiate lacrosse player for Loyola University Maryland. On the lacrosse field, Spencer put together an historic career on the way to becoming the NCAA Division I leader in assists.

After his lacrosse career, Spencer transferred to play basketball for one season at Northwestern.

On Wednesday, the former lacrosse star notched his first points in the NBA in memorable fashion.

With just a minute left on the clock, Kevon Looney wrangled a rebound before connecting on a full-court pass to Spencer. The new two-way guard snatched the ball and threw down a dunk on the fastbreak for this first career points.

Injury Report: Draymond Green, Moses Moody questionable vs. Grizzlies on Wednesday

A pair of key contributors for the Warriors are listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game against the Grizzlies.

For the second contest of a three-game homestand, the Golden State Warriors have a pair of key contributors listed on the injury report before they welcome the Memphis Grizzlies to the Bay Area on Wednesday evening.

Both Draymond Green and Moses Moody are listed as questionable. Green is dealing with lower back soreness while Moody is listed as having left knee soreness.

Via @anthonyVslater on X, formerly known as Twitter:

Green missed Golden State’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks in Texas on Wednesday of last week due to lower back soreness. However, Green returned for the Warriors’ previous two games against the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.

On Monday against the Knicks, Green played 31 minutes, recording two points, eight rebounds and five assists in the Warriors’ 119-112 loss.

If Green is unavailable, the Warriors could insert rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis into the starting lineup in the frontcourt. Jackson-Davis is coming off another impressive performance, tallying 19 points on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting from the field in 26 minutes off the bench against the Knicks.

The Warriors are set to meet the Grizzlies on Wednesday at 7 p.m. PT in San Francisco.

Watch: Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga hammers must-see dunk vs. Grizzlies

Jonathan Kuminga added another high-flying moment to his highlight-reel during his 29-point performance against the Grizzlies.

During one of the most impressive stretches of his young career, Jonathan Kuminga scored at least 25 points or more in four out of his last five games. On Friday night in Memphis, the G League Ignite product notched another standout performance.

On his way to a game-high 29-point effort against the Grizzlies, Kuminga punched another high-flying moment to his already ridiculous highlight reel. In the second quarter, Kuminga set the tone behind an explosive must-see dunk in Memphis.

After bringing the ball up the floor, Kuminga didn’t dish the ball as he made his way to the rim. Once he got downhill, the high-flying 21-year-old soared past Grizzlies forward Tosan Evbuomwan for a ridiculous dunk.

NBA Twitter reacts to Warriors dropping rough loss to short-handed Grizzlies

Despite missing Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart and others, the Warriors didn’t have an answer for the shorthanded Grizzlies in the fourth quarter.

While the Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green made his highly anticipated return to the court on Monday night, the Memphis Grizzlies were without five key players: Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart, Steven Adams and Brandon Clarke.

Despite facing a short-handed squad, the Warriors couldn’t put the Grizzlies away. After trading buckets throughout the game, the Warriors went into the fourth quarter with a one point lead over the Grizzlies.

In the final frame, the Warriors had no answers for the Grizzlies. Rookies GG Jackson and Jacob Gilyard took over, combining for 13 of the Grizzlies’ 31 fourth-quarter points. While the Grizzlies surged to a late lead, the Warriors went ice cold, scoring only 21 points in the fourth quarter on the way to a rough loss in Memphis.

Behind Jackson’s 23 points off the bench, the Grizzlies notched an upset victory over the Warriors for their fourth win at home of the season.

In his return to the court, Green tallied seven points on 2-of-4 shooting from the field with seven rebounds and four assists in 23 minutes off the bench on Monday against the Grizzlies.

Watch: Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga explodes for powerful dunk over Grizzlies’ Desmond Bane

Jonathan Kuminga added another poster-worthy dunk to his highlight reel on Wednesday against the Grizzlies.

With Andrew Wiggins ruled out before tipoff, Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors turned to second-year forward Jonathan Kuminga in the starting lineup.

With the chance to start, Kuminga added a pair of explosive dunks against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. His second highlight-reel slam dunk of the night might end up on a poster soon.

Shortly after coming out of the locker room at halftime, Klay Thompson found Kuminga near the bucket with Desmond Bane attempting to cover the rim. The G League Ignite product soared right past the Grizzlies’ defender for an emphatic one-handed dunk.

Via @NBA on Twitter:

Along with a pair of high-flying dunks, Kuminga finished the game with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field with a made triple to go along with four assists, two boards and one block in 24 minutes. With Kuminga’s help, the Warriors held on for a win against the Grizzlies, 122-120.

If Wiggins remains out due to a non-COVID related illness, the Warriors could continue to lean on Kuminga in the starting lineup in their next game on Friday against the Toronto Raptors.

NBA Twitter reacts to Jordan Poole’s game-winner vs. Grizzlies

After Jordan Poole’s game-winning bucket against the Grizzlies, NBA Twitter exploded with a flurry of reactions on Wednesday night.

After Jordan Poole missed a deep jumper attempt early in the shot clock with the Golden State Warriors leading by two points with under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Steph Curry appeared frustrated.

Following Poole’s miss, Curry threw his mouthpiece while running back on defense and was quickly ejected for the third time in his career. By rule, throwing anything toward the crowd triggers an ejection.

Despite his miss before Curry’s ejection, Poole got a chance at redemption for his teammate.

After Klay Thompson, Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke traded clutch moments in the final minute, Poole got the last word before the buzzer. With the game tied, Poole sent the Grizzlies home with a tough game-winning layup coming off an inbound pass from Donte DiVincenzo at the baseline.

Poole finished the game with 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field with seven assists and five rebounds in 31 minutes.

Via @NBA on Twitter:

With six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Warriors trailed the Grizzlies by 10 points. Poole scored 13 of his points in the final frame to help fuel Golden State’s comeback.

Prior to his ejection, Curry led the Warriors with 34 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field with four made triples to go along with three assists and two boards. Curry dropped 10 of his points in the fourth quarter.

Thompson added 24 points with five made triples to help snap the Warriors’ four-game losing streak at San Francisco’s Chase Center.

After the Warriors’ thrilling win against the Grizzlies, the NBA community on Twitter exploded with reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Wednesday night.
