Watch: Bob Myers jokingly references LeBron James’ famous chase down block vs. Warriors during Lakers vs. Nuggets broadcast

“I remember he did that one time in Oakland.”

Since leaving the Golden State Warriors front office, Bob Myers has joined ESPN’s broadcast team. For the first time, Golden State’s former general manager is serving as an analysts for NBA playoff games.

On Saturday, Myers found himself in a familiar situation while on the call for Game 4 of the series between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers. During the game, LeBron James chased down Jamal Murray for an emphatic block at the rim.

When talking about the block, Myers jokingly referenced James’ famous block in the fourth quarter of Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals against Andre Iguodala and the Warriors.

That’s more impressive to me than the scoring. Chasing down a blocked shot. I remember when he did that one time in Oakland, but I didn’t like it, Dave.

Via @ESPN on X:

James finished with 30 points on 14-of-23 shooting from the field with five rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block as the Lakers finally secured a much-needed win over the Nuggets, 119-108.

Game 5 between the Lakers and Nuggets is Monday at 7 p.m. PT in Denver. The Nuggets hold a 3-1 series lead over the Nuggets in the first-round playoff series.

Steve Kerr reacts to Draymond Green’s ejection vs. Cavs

The former Defensive Player of the Year was ejected in the third quarter against the Cavaliers after being assessed a technical upon replay review.

A defining moment of the Golden State Warriors’ loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday night came when tensions flared in the third quarter.

After Cavs wing Caris LeVert cashed in a fast-break layup, Donovan Mitchell made a straight line for Draymond Green as he was dribbling the ball up the other end of the court. Mitchell quickly fouled Green, resulting in the two jawing at each other. Mitchell appeared upset about what happened on LeVert’s layup.

Following Mitchell’s foul on Green, the play went into a replay review to determine if it would be a common foul or a technical. Following an extensive replay review, the official ruled Mitchell’s foul was common, but Green was assessed a technical for the previous play.

Green’s late technical was his second of the game. resulting in his first ejection of the season.

After Golden State’s 118-110 loss to Cleveland, Steve Kerr was asked about Green’s ejection. Kerr called the technical ruling bizarre.

They said he got a technical for elbowing Mitchell a couple plays before maybe. I had never heard of this rule, but apparently you can retroactively call a technical on someone from two plays before upon review.

I had no idea. There’s lots of plays I’d like to go back to from three years ago. I don’t know, that was bizarre.

Watch: Draymond Green ejected vs. Cavs after exchange with Donovan Mitchell

The veteran forward received his second technical foul and was ejected from Saturday’s game after a sequence with Cavs All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell.

After missing the finale of the Golden State Warriors’ road swing due to personal reasons on Wednesday against the Denver Nuggets, Draymond Green returned to the court on Saturday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

However, his return to the lineup was short lived. In the third quarter, the former Defensive Player of the Year received his second technical foul and was ejected from the contest.

After a made Caris LeVert bucket, Cavs All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell chased down Green and fouled him as he brought the ball up the other way. Mitchell appeared to be gesturing and pointing toward the other of end of the floor.

Via @NBCSWarriors on Twitter:

Following a replay review, Green appeared to shove Mitchell into the first row of seats under the basket. After no initial call, the referees assessed Green with his second technical following the review, resulting in an ejection.

Prior to his ejection, Green was animated throughout the night, jawing with Mitchell and having an exchange with Cleveland center Jarrett Allen. Green also attempted to fire up the crowd at Chase Center on Saturday night. On his way to the locker room, Green cheered with the crowd again.

Green finished with eight points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field to go along with a pair of made triples, five boards and four assists in 18 minutes. Without Green, the Warriors couldn’t hold on at home against the Cavs, losing 118-110.

The Warriors have lost two in a row and will face Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves on the second leg of a back-to-back on Saturday night at Chase Center.

NBA Twitter reacts to Cavs snapping Warriors’ five-game win streak

The Warriors early season five-game winning streak came to an end with a loss to the Cavaliers on Sunday, 115-104.

After getting a day off on Saturday, the Golden State Warriors opened a road back to back against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Heading into Sunday’s contest in Cleveland, the Warriors carried a five-game win streak, including four straight wins on the road.

However, cold shooting iced the Warriors early season win streak. For the first time in 16 regular-season meetings, the Cavaliers secured a win over the Warriors, 115-104. The Cavs’ last regular-season win over the Warriors came on Christmas Day 2016.

The Warriors shot 36.2% from the floor and 39% from beyond the arc. Steph Curry led the Warriors with 28 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field with seven made triples. No other members of the Warriors scored more than 18 points. Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga were the only other members of the Warriors to tally double figure scoring numbers.

Despite their cold shooting, which included a 15-point effort in the second quarter, the Warriors kept the game close against the Cavaliers, cutting their lead to four points in the fourth quarter. A late run led by Max Strus and Donovan Mitchell delivered a knockout punch to the Warriors.

Before the Warriors catch a flight to Detroit for the second-leg of their back to back, here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying about Sunday’s loss in Cleveland.

No Steph Curry? No problem. No Klay Thompson. Still, no problem. No Andrew Wiggins, Still no problem. No Draymond Green. Still, no problem.

In the frontcourt, Looney snatched 17 of the team’s 45 rebounds against the Cavaliers.

Kevin Durant reacts to Steph Curry’s fiery closing sequence vs. Cavs on Friday

After Steph Curry scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Warriors to a win over the Cavs on Friday, his former teammate went to Twitter with a reaction.

After scoring a season-high 47 points to snap the Golden State Warriors’ losing streak with a win over the Sacramento Kings on Monday, Steph Curry picked up right where he left off on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite getting into foul trouble, Curry showed no signs of slowing against the Cavs on Friday. The reigning NBA Finals Most Valuable Player notched 40 points on 15-of-23 shooting from the field with six made 3s.

While the Warriors’ defense held strong against Donovan Mitchell and the Cavaliers, the eight-time All-Star guard scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field in the final frame to seal the Warriors’ victory, 106-101.

With less than a minute to play, Curry knocked down a game-tying 3, followed by a go-ahead bucket. Curry put a bow on the game with a ridiculous 3-pointer to close the game and give the Warriors a four-point lead with only 35 seconds left on the clock.

After his spirited sequence down the final stretch of the game, one of Curry’s former teammates chimed in on Twitter. Curry caught the attention of former Warrior turned Nets forward Kevin Durant.

Juan Toscano-Anderson

Juan Toscano-Anderson led a furious effort from Golden State’s second unit, tallying a career-high 20 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field. Toscano-Anderson shot it well from deep, hitting a trio of 3-pointers on four attempts from long distance. The Oakland native grabbed seven boards along with three assists, a block and a steal.

Recording 31 minutes against the Cavaliers, the two-way forward looks to be cementing himself in the rotation for Golden State’s stretch run before the postseason.

Bench Mob

While Toscano-Anderson led the way with 20 points, two other members of Golden State’s second unit tallied double-figures in scoring.

Jordan Poole stayed hot, registering 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor in 23 minutes off the bench. Damion Lee added 11 points on 5-of-8 from the field with five boards an assist against the Cavaliers.

With injuries to James Wiseman and Kelly Oubre Jr., the Warriors will need to continue leaning on their second unit during their five-game road swing.

Highlight of the night

Although Steph Curry danced past Cleveland’s defense for a flurry of impressive plays, Draymond Green stole the show with a highlight-reel dunk.

With under five minutes remaining, Green exploded to the rim after a pass from Curry for a powerful one-handed slam. Following Green and Curry’s pick and roll, the former Defensive Player of the Year soared past Larry Nance Jr. for a rim-rocking jam.
