Cooper Kupp is the Rams’ nominee for the prestigious Walter Payton Man of the Year Award
Cooper Kupp is known for his outstanding play on the field, but he’s also a leader in the community. He’s often doing charitable work in some form or fashion, whether it’s providing meals at local food banks or donating Nike gear to help Inglewood Unified School District students.
Kupp is certainly one of the good guys, and the Rams are recognizing him for all the community work he does. The NFL announced 32 nominees for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, and the Rams nominated their star receiver.
Kupp will try to join Andrew Whitworth as a Walter Payton Man of the Year recipient after Whitworth won the award in 2021 for all the charitable causes he supported – and continues to support in his post-playing days.
“My family and I are honored to be nominated alongside just a few of the many players in the NFL family that are doing great work in their respective communities,” Kupp said. “Lending a helping hand, recognizing where there are needs, and finding ways to bridge the gap. While I am thankful for the NFL giving us a platform to shine a light on a few of the causes that are important to us, we all have the ability to give of ourselves in one way or another that can change the lives of the people around us.”
The Rams surprised Kupp with the news of his nomination recently, and they shared the video of that reveal with everyone on social media.
The Walter Payton Man of the Year Award is considered by many to be the most prestigious handed out each year, with many past winners calling it their greatest honor. Simply being nominated is a commendable sign of recognition, and all 32 nominees will be celebrated in the week leading up to the Super Bowl.
The winner will be announced and recognized at the NFL Honors show on Feb. 8, just a few days before Super Bowl LVIII.
