Walt Frazier and his incredible suits over the years

Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier is known for many things – most notably, his legendary basketball career (which includes two NBA titles) and his color commentary for Knicks games… But there’s also his fashion style, which some (like us) may call impeccable and others may deem outrageous. There’s even a website, Clyde So Fly, that grades every suit he wears.

Before he won NBA titles, before his seven all-star appearances, Walt “Clyde” Frazier was the oldest of nine children, growing up in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. “I grew up maybe seven blocks from here, so I was just sitting there thinking how much time I’ve spent in this gym,” said Frazier. The gym is now a part of David T. Howard Middle School. Before, it was an all-Black elementary school, then a high school, where Frazier graduated, class of 1963.

Amar’e Stoudemire, then playing for the New York Knicks, and rapper Lupe Fiasco were executive producers. Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, Joakim Noah, Tyson Chandler, and Carmelo Anthony were some of the others that appeared on screen. “Anything that keeps kids off the street is very important,” Noah, then a member of the Chicago Bulls, said in the film. Also featured was Walt Frazier, one of the greatest NBA players ever and an extremely popular figure in New York as the Knicks’ television color commentator.

Walt Frazier Enterprises was a landmark. It had an office on Park Avenue. Frazier was its namesake and its face. He owned a third of it. Billy Cunningham, then a 76ers star, owned a third as well. Irwin Weiner, the actual agent in the midst, owned the other portion.
