What is the Waffle House Index and what’s the Hurricane Milton update for it? Here’s the answer.

Here’s the answer.

If you’re looking around for something called the Waffle House index during hurricanes that hit the United States, we’re here to help.

And yes, it has to do with THAT Waffle House. The one that serves breakfast foods including, of course, waffles.

Here’s the story: Back in 2004, former FEMA administrator Craig Fugate came up with a system based on how open Waffle Houses were in the United States after a storm, because Waffle House locations had a remarkable ability to stay open even in the face of weather disasters

Green means Waffle Houses are operational, Yellow means they’re open but with a limited menu and red means closed. And given that information, officials and responders know when to go based on that index, because when Waffle Houses are closed, that means the storm is or was REALLY bad.

There you have it. For Hurricane Milton, here’s the update from Waffle House:

A hungry Ricky Stenhouse Jr. took the Daytona 500 trophy to Waffle House

Daytona 500 winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wanted Waffle House, so he got Waffle House.

Sunday’s Daytona 500 winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr. didn’t waste much time getting to his post-victory meal.

After squeezing past racer Joey Logano in the double overtime win, Stenhouse decided to pull a Trevor Lawrence and go to Waffle House to celebrate.

He also brought his Daytona 500 hardware with him, as when you celebrate at Waffle House, even your trophy is invited for the meal.

Just like everyone did with Lawrence, NASCAR fans will undoubtedly want to know what Stenhouse’s order was for his celebratory chow down.

Of course, the friendly Waffle House employees gave Stenhouse a round of applause as he showed off his new trophy.

Hey, a full day of racing would make anyone hungry, and Stenhouse picked the perfect place to enjoy after notching the seismic victory.

If you’re a Waffle House and/or NASCAR fan, you now have your marching orders. Rev up your own set of wheels and go get you a waffle ASAP.

NFL fans had lots of Waffle House jokes after Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars lost to the Chiefs

Gonna be a sad night at the all of the Waffle Houses in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had their season come to an end Saturday night in Kansas City as a banged up Patrick Mahomes was able to lead the Chiefs to a 27-20 victory that punched their ticket to a fifth straight AFC championship game.

It also means that Lawrence won’t be hitting up the Waffle House when the Jaguars return to Jacksonville whenever the team gets back into town after their flight home.

As your remember, Lawrence and some teammates took a legendary trip to a Waffle House after last week’s dramatic win over the Chargers.

Tonight there is no joy in any of the Waffle Houses in Duval.

NFL fans did have jokes, though.

Cameras captured Trevor Lawrence hilariously hyping up Waffle House after Jaguars’ historic win

Lawrence’s love for Waffle House knows no bounds.

By now, we’re rather intimately familiar with how much native Southerner Trevor Lawrence loves Waffle House. With an order fit for a professional football player in store, it was one of the first places the Jacksonville Jaguars’ quarterback went after the team’s historic comeback victory in the AFC Wild Card Game.

Brace yourselves: We have even more insight into the bright young man’s fascination with affordable and rather well-made Southern comfort food.

You see, NFL Films captured Lawrence discussing his plans to celebrate the Jaguars qualifying for the NFL’s final eight while trying to recruit teammates and members of Jacksonville’s staff. This is quite evidently (and understandably!) a pleasure he wants to share with as many people as possible:

Knowing Lawrence, if the Jaguars can somehow beat the Kansas City Chiefs on the road this Saturday, he’ll try to find a Waffle House as soon as possible to celebrate. Lo and behold, there’s a Waffle House an approximate 20-minute drive from the Chiefs’ home stadium. Stay tuned!

Trevor Lawrence’s love for the Waffle House is real, and it’s spectacular

Trevor Lawrence gets it.

Trevor Lawrence became a hero in Jacksonville last Saturday night when he led the Jaguars back from a 27-0 deficit to beat the Chargers, 31-30, in a crazy AFC wild card game that saw the third biggest comeback in NFL playoff history.

Then after the game he became a Jacksonville legend when he chose to celebrate the victory by going to eat a local Waffle House, where he crushed some delicious late-night food with his wife, Marissa, and some teammates.

It doesn’t get more everyman than that and every person in Jacksonville, as well as anyone who has ever taken in the Waffle House experience, absolutely loved it.

On Tuesday, Lawrence was asked by the local media about his trip to the house of waffles and the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft was more than happy to share some details on his celebratory meal and his love for the cherished establishment.

Some highlights:

– Lawrence said his wife called ahead and asked for a reservation. He then quickly laughed and said it was probably the first reservation ever at a Waffle House. I love this planning ahead and I think it was very courteous of his wife to call and give them a heads up that they would be coming there later so the place could be prepared for what would be a crazy night. Just a very sweet move. I love everything about it.

– Lawrence said some teammates had never been to a Waffle House before and he basically just couldn’t let them to go through life without experiencing it. You gotta love that leadership from your QB. Truly a great guy and everything you’d want from a No. 1 overall pick.

– Lawrence said he ordered a Texas bacon cheesesteak with hash browns (with cheese) and a pecan waffle. I live here in Jax and have been to Waffle House a bunch of times and never realized they had a Texas bacon cheesesteak sandwich and now it’s all I can think about. Seriously, It’s 8:44 a.m. as I write this and I’m sitting here wondering if it’s late enough in the day for me to go and get one of those. Also, backing that up with a pecan waffle is impressive as hell. Regular waffles are pretty great. Pecan waffles are OUTSTANDING. What a pro move.

– Lawrence added that his order changes depending on when he’s going in there and that sometimes he’ll get the All-Star Special. I love how it seems like he goes there a lot and is knowledgeable about all parts of the menu. The All-Star Special, by the way, is fantastic. It consists of two eggs (any style), toast, bacon or sausage, home fries (or grits), and a waffle. It’s a perfect breakfast.

– And finally, I loved how he said he gets his home fries with cheese on them and that he’s aware they might call that “covered” at Waffle House and that he should probably start calling it that when he goes in. Dude just has so much respect for the place. A true gentleman. Oh, and if you go to a Waffle House you need to get your home fries covered (a slice of American cheese on top), smothered (with sautéed onions), and peppered (jalapeño peppers). Holy moly am I hungry right now.

Just sit back and watch this man speak his love for the Waffle House:

Lawrence and the Jags have quickly become a fun group to root for and should be the team you’re pulling for if your squad is no longer in the playoffs.

And if they win Saturday in Kansas City I think I know where the party will be when the team gets back home.

Quick hits: Sam Hubbard’s hilarious reaction to TD… Joe Buck has fun with SVP ‘feud’… Tom Brady saying goodbye?… And more.

– Bengals defensive end said the most honest thing on the sideline right after his 98-yard fumble return for a TD against the Ravens last Sunday night.

– Joe Buck and Scott Van Pelt had some fun with their fake feud after the Cowboys-Bucs game.

– Fans were convinced that Tom Brady was pretty much saying goodbye at the end of his postgame press conference.

– Here are the betting odds for the eight remaining teams in the NFL playoffs.

Golf fans can’t get enough of these Waffle House-themed Adidas Masters cleats

These look … delicious?

Is it possible to say that golf shoes look … delicious?

That’s honestly my first impression when I got a look at the new Adidas golf shoes that married the brand with … Waffle House! Just in time for Masters week!

The shoes are covered in a waffle-like design and syrupy designs on the bottom. Per Adidas: “Although it’s a limited menu item, we’ll start taking orders on the TOUR360 22 x Waffle House beginning this Thursday, April 7, on adidas.com, the adidas app and at select retailers in the U.S.”

Fans couldn’t get enough of these on Twitter on Monday morning. Here’s the reaction:

A fantasy football last-place finisher spent 15 hours in Waffle House as punishment and tweeted about it

Oof, this was ROUGH.

The old “have to spend 24 hours in a restaurant” is among the worst fantasy football punishments there is for coming in last place.

Just ask poor Lee Sanderlin, a journalist for the Clarion Ledger.

Sanderlin was in a league in which finishing in last place meant he had to spend 24 hours in a Waffle House, which may sound like a delicious punishment. However! He was told that every waffle he ate would knock off one hour from the 24.

Sanderlin tweeted the whole experience up until he left Friday morning, and so we had to recap the highs and many, many lows of this endeavor.

We’ll start from the beginning, in Mississippi:
