Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears odds and lines, with expert NFL picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Two teams that entered the season convinced they were playoff teams are now playing for survival, as the Minnesota Vikings (1-4) travel to play the Chicago Bears (1-4) at 1 p.m. Sunday at Soldier Field in a game broadcast on FOX. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Vikings vs. Bears odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Vikings have been rumored to be ready for a fire sale after a slow start and a hamstring injury that placed star wide receiver Justin Jefferson on injured reserve. As in many of their losses, the Vikings had opportunities in the 4th quarter, but fell flat in a 27-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Kirk Cousins threw for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns, but the Vikings defense failed them – allowing the Chiefs to convert 9-of-15 3rd downs to keep drives alive and control tempo. The loss dropped Minnesota to 1-3-1 Against the Spread.

The Bears got their 1st win of the season with a 40-20 blowout of the Washington Commanders. Chicago’s offense rolled up 451 total yards. The run game gained 178 yards on 32 carries and quarterback Justin Fields threw for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns. Wide receiver D.J. Moore had a breakout game, catching 8 passes for 230 yards and 3 touchdowns. The win was Chicago’s 1st ATS win of the season (1-3-1).

Vikings at Bears picks and predictions

Prediction

Vikings 24, Bears 20

Moneyline

PASS

The Vikings have the better team and should win, but they just can’t be trusted this season to wager on. The Bears will likely get a lot more action on this betting line, but they can’t be counted on either.

Against the spread

TAKE VIKINGS -3 (-110)

The loss of Jefferson is huge, but Minnesota has other offensive options. The Vikings may transform back into a more run-heavy offense. The Bears are coming off a mini-bye, but their defense has been carved up badly through the air. In 5 games opposing quarterbacks have thrown for 1,478 yards with 12 touchdowns and a passer rating of 111.1. Even without Jefferson, the Vikings should be able to take advantage of the Bears’ suspect defense.

Over/Under

TAKE OVER 43.5 (-110)

The Bears have allowed 27 or more points in 4 of 5 games, and the Vikings have allowed 27 or more points in 3 of the last 4. What has this game looking more like an Over call is that the Bears are going to be without 3 of their top 4 running backs and may have to throw more or count on Fields to be the primary runner. Minnesota is aggressive on defense, which can cut both ways when they allow big plays downfield.

Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday Night Football’s Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears Week 15 odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The well-rested Minnesota Vikings (6-7) travel into their personal house of horrors when they face the Chicago Bears (4-9) in the Week 15 Monday Night Football game. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET at Soldier Field. Below, we look at the Vikings vs. Bears odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Vikings, who last played Thursday, Dec. 9, remain on the outside looking at the playoffs and have been their own worst enemy much of the season. All of their losses have been by 8 points or less and many of them have been squandered late in games. You can bet all eyes will be on QB Kirk Cousins and his career-long struggles in prime-time games.

CB Jaylon Johnson and S Tashaun Gipson were the latest Bears to land on the reserve/COVID-19 list, which now includes the entire starting secondary. As of Sunday night, Chicago had 14 players on the list including WR Allen Robinson II, backup QB Andy Dalton, TE Jesse James, OT Larry Borom, CB Duke Shelley.

Vikings at Bears odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Vikings 28, Bears 20

Money line

Minnesota has found ways to lose in Chicago consistently. If I were to place a wager on this, it would be a small bet on the Bears (+225) at more than double the return.

However, I strongly believe Minnesota will win, and with the price too high at -290, my advice is AVOID.

Against the spread

These appear to be two teams going in different directions. The Bears are beset with injuries and too many players uncertain in the COVID protocol. The Vikings should be well-rested since they’ve had 11 days in between games.

While nothing seems to ever come easy for Minnesota at Soldier Field and with so much at stake – a playoff spot and the jobs of the head coach and general manager – it needs to take advantage of playing a short-handed Bears squad. BET VIKINGS -6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The O/U 44.5 is almost the perfect number for the total.

If the Bears are to win, they need to limit the Vikings to 20 points or less. The Vikings are capable of blowing out the Bears, which could make for a late comeback like the furious return the Steelers made vs. the Vikes in Week 14.

I believe the score will be close to this number and may require a late score to hit it, but both Minnesota’s offense and defense are capable of allowing those critical points to be scored. BET OVER 44.5 (-108).

Vikings at Bears: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Vikings 27, Bears 20

Money line (?)

Given Minnesota’s problems winning at Soldier Field, this one seems like a lot to ask for the Vikings (-183). The Bears (+155) are a solid play at home as a dog. Personally, I don’t like money line bets when I’m projecting the favorite. That said, I would AVOID this bet, but wouldn’t blame anyone for taking the Bears because of the bizarre history.

Against the spread (?)

MINNESOTA is a 3.5-point favorite (-110 Vikings, -110 Bears), but the way the bet is weighed seems to give the impression that the Bears should cover the spread. You have a Minnesota team that has been dominant with Cook and the Bears will have to contend with an offense with more weapons than they have. I’m not overly confident, but take MINNESOTA -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under (?)

The feeling is that the Bears defense will keep the Vikings in check and the Bears inept offense will keep the score low. Cook is having an MVP season and Chicago’s commitment to stopping him will open up Minnesota’s downfield pass game. Combine that with Minnesota’s dismal cornerback crew and there will be enough big plays made to surpass the number. Take the OVER 43.5 (-110).
