Vegas Golden Knights at Chicago Blackhawks odds, picks, and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Chicago Blackhawks odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (42-31-7) travel to meet the Chicago Blackhawks (27-42-11) at United Center Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Blackhawks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights are still technically alive for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, but after a 3-2 overtime loss in Dallas, they’re on serious life support. They’re four points back of the Stars with two to go, and Dallas needs just one point in the remaining games to eliminate VGK.

The Blackhawks have long since been eliminated from playoff contention. Chicago picked up a victory Monday against Philadelphia, its first win in regulation since March 23 in Anaheim. The home crowd hasn’t seen a regulation victory since March 8, also against the Ducks oddly enough.

Golden Knights at Blackhawks odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Golden Knights -220 (bet $220 to win $100) | Blackhawks +175 ($100 to win $175)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Golden Knights -1.5 (+120) | Blackhawks +1.5 (-150)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -102 | U: -122)

Golden Knights at Blackhawks projected goalies

Logan Thompson (9-5-1, 2.64 GAA, .917 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Kevin Lankinen (7-15-6, 3.53 GAA, .890 SV%)

Thompson appeared to be shaken up after a third-period collision Tuesday, but he stayed in to finish up in Dallas. He is the top option with Robin Lehner and Laurent Brossoit each done, so he’ll have to start with the quick turnaround. Jiri Patera is the backup, and likely to start the finale if VGK is eliminated.

Lankinen was in between the pipes for the win over Philadelphia Monday, turning aside 33 of the 34 shots he faced for his second win in the past four starts. He allowed five goals on 36 shots in a wild 5-4 OT loss in Vegas on March 26, his only appearance vs. VGK this season.

Golden Knights at Blackhawks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Blackhawks 4, Golden Knights 3

Money line

The BLACKHAWKS (+170) are worth playing as heavy home ‘dogs.

The Golden Knights (-210) would cost you more than two times your potential return, and that’s too much given their uncertain goaltending situation. They’ll be keeping an eye on the scoreboard, too, as Dallas plays at home against lowly Arizona, also at 8:30 p.m. ET. If the Stars go up big, VGK could pack it in.

Against the spread

The BLACKHAWKS +1.5 (-150) aren’t priced out of line if you don’t trust them straight up and would like a little insurance.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-102) is play here.

Thompson is bushed, and he has the unenviable task of going back-to-back with travel. That’s tough for any NHL player, but especially for a goalie. He’ll be tired, and the Blackhawks could get to him. Chicago might also see Patera in his first NHL action if Vegas gets behind early and throws in the towel.

Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (27-16-3) travel to meet the Edmonton Oilers (23-16-3) Tuesday at Rogers Place. Puck drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Golden Knights vs. Oilers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Knights posted consecutive wins prior to the All-Star break, including a 3-2 shootout win at the Tampa Bay Lightning Jan. 29.

VGK hasn’t played a Western Conference opponent in eight games, losing at Chicago by a 2-1 count Jan. 8. VGK has dropped three in a row against Western Conference foes since its last win versus the West on New Year’s Eve against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Oilers have rediscovered their offense lately, going 5-0-1 across the past six games while averaging 4.17 goals per game during the span. Edmonton still has issues defensively, allowing at least 2 goals in 26 consecutive games since Nov. 18.

  • Money line: Golden Knights -112 (bet $112 to win $100) | Oilers -108 (bet $108 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Golden Knights -1.5 (+200) | Oilers +1.5 (-290)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: -105 | U: -120)

Golden Knights at Oilers projected goalies

Robin Lehner (19-12-1, 2.76 GAA, .910 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Mike Smith (2-2-1, 3.76 GAA, .898 SV%)

Lehner posted wins against the Buffalo Sabres and Lightning prior to the break, allowing 4 goals on 61 shots in the two victories. He has won four of his past five starts, although he is 0-2-0 with a 3.62 GAA and .887 SV% in two starts against the Oilers this season.

Smith gets his first start since Jan. 5 as the Oilers placed starting goaltender Mikko Koskinen in the COVID-19 protocols. Smith allowed 13 goals on 106 shots across three starts from Dec. 29 to Jan. 5.

Golden Knights vs. Oilers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Golden Knights 3

Money line

The OILERS (-108) are starting to show a little bit of consistency lately, picking up wins in five of their last six games. Edmonton has struggled at home and against winning clubs with just three wins in its last 10 at Rogers Place and three wins in its last 10 tries against winning teams.

However, Edmonton was playing well before the break and it has had the number of Vegas so far this season for some reason.

Against the spread

The Oilers +1.5 (-290) will cost you nearly three times your potential return for a little insurance in the event they stumble, and that’s not a good investment.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-105) might be the best play on the board. As mentioned above, Edmonton has coughed up two or more goals in 26 consecutive games, so Vegas will certainly get theirs. Plus, VGK has hit the Over in 11 of the past 16 on the road. Look for some fire wagon hockey early on.

Anaheim Ducks at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Anaheim Ducks at Vegas Golden Knights NHL betting odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights open the 2020-21 NHL regular season against each other Thursday for a 10 p.m. ET puck drop at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Below, we analyze the Ducks-Golden Knights NHL betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Ducks at Golden Knights: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Ducks +185 (bet $100 to win $185) | Golden Knights -225 (bet $225 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Ducks +1.5 (-150) | Golden Knights -1.5 (+125)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Ducks at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

John Gibson (20-26-5, 3.00 GAA, .904 SV%) at Robin Lehner (19-10-5, 2.89 GAA, .920 SV%)

Gibson is expected to make the start in the opener, but it could be a struggle. He was just 7-14-3 with a 3.29 GAA and .898 SV% across 24 starts away from home last season. In addition, he was a dismal 1-2-1 with a 4.48 GAA and .878 SV% in four outings against VGK last season.

Lehner was acquired midway through the season from the rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks, and he quickly moved to the top of the depth chart over fan-favorite Marc-Andre Fleury. Lehner posted a solid 2-0-0 mark against the Ducks last season with a sparkling 1.99 GAA and .947 SV% in his two appearances.

Ducks at Golden Knights: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Ducks 2

Money line (ML)

The Golden Knights (-225) should coast to a victory in the opener, but risking more than two times your potential return is just not a good long-term betting strategy, especially in the opener. You just never know. We saw three of the underdogs cash in Wednesday’s opening slate of games. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

If you bet on the home side, take GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+125) at plus-money on their home ice. In their final five wins on home ice last season they also covered the puck line, winning by at least two goals with a differential of 2.4 goals per game in the five wins.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6 (-110) is way to go here, as the high-flying Vegas offense should be able to dent Gibson frequently. We’ll get some firewagon hockey from a Golden Knights side that rolled up 227 goals last season in 71 regular-season games, third-most in the Western Conference.
