The Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers meet in Game 6 of a best-of-7 Western Conference 2nd-round series Saturday. The Canucks lead the series 3-2. Puck drop at Rogers Place is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Canucks vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.
Vancouver is a win away from advancing to the Western Conference Finals after defeating Edmonton in Game 5 3-2, cashing as a (+112) home underdog. C J.T. Miller scored the game winner in the 3rd period, and each game of this series thus far has been decided by 1 goal.
Former Oiler Craig MacTavish writes that Miller, who has been matched up against Edmonton C Connor McDavid, “is big and strong and has a physical advantage over McDavid”. The Edmonton power play failed to score on 5 opportunities in Game 5.

Canucks at Oilers projected goalies
Arturs Silovs (5-3, 2.62 GAA, .907 SV%) vs. Calvin Pickard (1-1, 2.21, .915 SV%)
Silovs, a Latvian national hero, will be cheered on by Canucks fans and “literally everyone” from his home country of nearly 2 million people. The 2019 6th-round pick had dressed in only 9 career games before the postseason. He’s 5-3 with a 2.62 GAA and .907 SV% this postseason.
Pickard was a 2nd-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche back in 2010, and now the veteran journeyman has been asked to step up in the wake of G Stuart Skinner‘s struggles. Vancouver’s power play was 0-for-4 in Game 5, and NHL insider John Shannon called the 32-year-old “the best penalty killer for the Oilers”. He has a 2.21 GAA and .915 SV% in 3 games (2 starts) this postseason.

Canucks at Oilers picks and predictions
Prediction
Canucks 4, Oilers 3
Moneyline
BET CANUCKS (+162).
Home ice has not provided the advantage as road teams are 36-30 this postseason. While unsuccessful in Game 5, the Canucks power play has proven that they can get traffic in front of the net and score, and at this price the suggestion is taking your chances with the plus-money.
Puck line/Against the spread
PASS.
If you are comfortable laying the (-156) juice, backing the Canucks getting the insurance certainly makes sense. Unfortunately, we will not have any immediate potential dance partners for a parlay, as both Florida and Dallas wrapped up their 2nd series matchups Saturday.
Over/Under
BET OVER 6.5 (+102).
This is still an Edmonton team that has McDavid, C Leon Draisaitl, who is riding a 10-game point streak, and 54-goal-scorer LW Zach Hyman. Vancouver certainly has their scoring options, too, and perhaps C Elias Pettersson‘s game will get going after earning the 2nd Star in the Game 5 win. RW Brock Boeser scored 40 goals during the regular season and has registered a point in every game except 1 in this series.
Additionally, this game features the top regular season-scoring defenseman D Quinn Hughes (92 points), while Edmonton’s D Evan Bouchard had the 4th-most points (82) on the back end. While the netminders certainly both have nice stories, and their path to getting this Saturday night playoff start is admirable, these lineups have scoring options all over the roster. So I would rather bank on goals galore at plus-money.
